Kim Kardashian-West and her husband, Kanye West, have a knack for picking interesting baby names.
First, there was their daughter North, who goes by Norrie.
Then their son, Saint.
When the couple welcomed their third child via surrogate, speculation ran wild. Kim posted a picture of a Louis Vuitton bag, which prompted speculation that the baby name would be related somehow.
Those rumors were shot down quickly, and fans were left in the lurch. The only hint we had was an interview with Ellen Degeneres that Kim gave recently, where she said she liked "easy, one-syllable names." All the new parents were focusing on were the health of their baby, not releasing her name.
"Kanye and I are happy to announce the arrival of our healthy, beautiful baby girl," Kim wrote. "We are incredibly grateful to our surrogate who made our dreams come true with the greatest gift one could give and to our wonderful doctors and nurses for their special care. North and Saint are especially thrilled to welcome their baby sister."
From the sounds of what they picked, though, that rule is officially no longer a thing.
Kim posted her new daughter's name on her app, and making the announcement short and sweet.
The name may seem a little out there, but it's Kanye's hometown, something he's always been proud of. The family is already referring to the little girl by her nickname, Chi (pronounced shy.)
Kim and Kanye made headlines when they announced they would be welcoming their third child via surrogate. Or course, the social media star faced backlash when people assumed she was using a surrogate as a way to avoid carrying her own child and "ruining" her body. However, it's been well-documented that Kim's past pregnancies have been high-risk due to placenta accreta, and doctors warned that carrying another child naturally could kill them both. Kim underwent surgery to try and fix the problem, but it didn't work.
"After everything I went through, the surgery and it wasn't successful and didn't do anything," she said. "Kanye was really nervous about the surgery ... but I know he would want to have more kids. I feel like surrogacy is the only option for me."
