Ever since winning the first season of American Idol in 2001, Kelly Clarkson has been an unstoppable force.
Not only has the three-time Grammy winner sold over 25 millions albums and 45 million singles worldwide, she has ventured into television, voice acting, and writing children's books.
Now, Clarkson can also add talk show host to her impressive resume.
The mother of two first confirmed that she was filming a pilot for a daytime talk show with NBC last year.
The "Piece By Piece" singer accidentally spilled the beans while appearing on an episode of The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon in September.
"I love talking; it's like my favorite pastime. It's hard for me to shut up though. You know, you have to listen to people that go on your show," Clarkson said. "That's the only thing I got to work on ... is listening."
At the time, the Voice coach said the show will be "very musical," and the network backed up her claim by adding that it will be "a fun, energetic show that breaks with tradition."
"In each episode audiences will experience an hour full of remarkable stories, celebrity guests, spontaneous surprises, humor, heart and, of course, good music!" NBC said in a statement to EW. "It's like a weekday brunch party with a fascinating guest list of people who would otherwise never meet."
This week, new details about the show have been released and there's finally a premiere date. The Kelly Clarkson Show will make its debut on Monday, September 9, according to the website. It will air at 2 p.m. right before The Ellen DeGeneres Show.
Clarkson has never been one to shy away from speaking her mind, whether it's about motherhood, mental health, or body issues, so it's not a surprise at all that she will be joining the likes of Ellen DeGeneres and Wendy Williams.
The show's executive producer also believes that Kelly's profile - "a 36-year-old mom living in a blended family" who is "living a big life right now" - puts her at an advantage when it comes to winning over the daytime audience.
"I literally cannot wait to do this show," Kelly said in a video promoting the show. "I'm so stoked. We have a few surprises up our sleeve for daytime. It's gonna be good. Or, it'll be what it's gonna be. You can like it or not!"
While Clarkson and her fans are excited about her upcoming endeavor, the singer's self-titled show isn't without controversy.
From early on there was speculation that because of Clarkson's deal with NBC Steve Harvey's talk show, Steve, would be axed.
"I thought I was [going to stay with NBC], until they made an announcement a couple weeks ago that they wanted to give Kelly Clarkson the owned-and-operated NBC networks "” that's my slot," Harvey said at the Variety Entertainment Summit last year. "I don't know if it sold, it's not selling like they thought, but I thought it would have been nice of them to come to me ..."
Unfortunately for the comedian, it looks like his worries were justified as Clarkson's show will be taking over his time slot.
At this time, the network has not confirmed whether or not Harvey's show will be given a new hour or if it will be canceled altogether.
