Not all heroes wear capes. Heck, not all heroes are even noticed when they do something heroic.

Keanu Reeves has been a movie star a long time. For about the same amount of time he's been known as one of Hollywood's most generous stars.

A Reddit user claimed to be an assistant prop designer on the set of Chain Reaction which starred Keanu Reeves and Morgan Freeman:

"EVERY DAY for the last few weeks of filming, Keanu treated the stage hands and "grunt workers" (including myself) by taking us out for free breakfast and lunch. He was a genuinely a very nice guy to work with."

He legendarily bought Harley Davidson motorcycles for the special effects crew on his hit The Matrix and reportedly drove a woman 50 miles after her car broke down.

His great works are made more notable because his personal life has been marred by tragedy after tragedy. He lost his best friend River Phoenix in a public way, the love of his life succumbed after a long battle with cancer, and his first child was miscarried.

It was recently revealed that the actor does even more work, but likes to keep his name out of the paper.

In a 2009, interview with Ladies Home Journal Reeves let slip that he started a foundation in the early 2000s. He doesn't attach his name to it, but it funds children's hospitals and cancer research.

"I have a private foundation that's been running for five or six years, and it helps aid a couple of children's hospitals and cancer research. I don't like to attach my name to it, I just let the foundation do what it does."

In this day and age it's so refreshing to see a celebrity who does something quietly. It would be great to celebrate him in the open, but his desire for privacy proves he's just an honest, good person.
