John Henderson, who starred in hit shows like Desperate Housewives, was arrested on Tuesday, according to TMZ.
Law enforcement sources told the celebrity news website that the actor's neighbors returned home after the weekend to find about $7,000 worth of jewelry missing.
Officers who responded to the scene analyzed surveillance footage, which showed three men in hoodies climbing over a balcony to get into the house.
Although reports say that the faces of the robbers were partially covered, the victim allegedly recognized one of them as Henderson.
The 37-year-old has since been taken into custody "on the suspicion of burglary," Jeff Lee, a public information officer for the Los Angeles Police Department confirmed to USA Today.
Despite the supposed evidence, sources close to Henderson say that his arrest was a case of mistaken identity and he was not involved in the heist at all.
"[Henderson] was initially mistakenly identified with a grainy security camera, but he is fully cooperating and evidence is now being presented to the authorities showing he had nothing to do with any of this," one source tells TMZ. "Josh is innocent and we are confident he will be cleared very quickly."
The LAPD is still reviewing the security footage, and have yet to confirm exactly what was allegedly stolen, but Henderson has been released after processing.
He posted a $50,000 bail, and it scheduled to appear in court on January 3rd.
In addition to portraying Edie Britt's rebellious nephew Austin McCann in Desperate Housewives, Henderson's acting credits include Dallas, The Arrangement, and more recently Hallmark's Time for Me to Come Home for Christmas.
