John Stamos Reveals He Is Going To Be A First-Time Dad At 54

He planned every tiny detail to a T, and even created an animated video using clips of romantic moments from Pixar and Disney movies. The video ended with Sebastian from The Little Mermaid holding a sign that says "Go on and ask the girl."

The lovebirds took to Instagram soon after to reveal the happy news.

"I kissed the boy and said...yes! That's what you do when the sweetest, most romantic Prince Charming treats you like a princess and asks you to be his 💍," McHugh wrote in the caption of her post.

Stamos shared a sketch of what appears to be him and McHugh in front of Cinderella's castle along with the caption, "I asked...she said yes! ...And we lived happily ever after💍"

Now, almost two months after the news of their engagement broke, Stamos is going from being everyone's favorite uncle to a dad in real life!

The actor and McHugh are expecting their first child, and the announcement is perfect.

Stamos, 54, and his fiancee shared the happy news exclusively with People Magazine, and admits that he "has been practicing for a long time."

He told the magazine that he's always wanted to be a father, and that he and McHugh have previously "talked about" having a baby.

"We have the same morals and the same values, that all clicked nicely. So we said, "˜Oh, well, maybe we should have a family,'" said Stamos.

Stamos revealed that McHugh jokingly suggested that they have a kid before getting married because he was getting "old."

It wasn't long after their conversation that the couple found out McHugh was pregnant.

"The [pregnancy] happened. Then I said, I better have a ring on her finger because it's the right thing to do, and I wanted to marry her anyway," Stamos explained. "So I called her parents to ask, and it was like, "˜You better!'"

He admitted that the baby news caught him off guard because he "always wanted to be a dad" but didn't think it would actually happen. "People would say, 'You should have a child,' and I was like, "˜That ship has sailed.'"

McHugh added, "The look on John's face when I told him we were pregnant was priceless. It was the look of a man who has wanted a family of his own but wasn't sure it was going to happen for him. Now it is!"

The parents-to-be are over the moon, but they're taking it day by day. For now, they're keeping the baby's sex to themselves, but Stamos is confident about his parenting abilities regardless of gender.

"I'll be a fun dad. I've been practicing for a long time," he said jokingly. "I've done every schtick you can do with a baby on TV... all the bits and jokes and diaper gags. I'll probably just do all that stuff."

McHugh agreed and called Stamos "the biggest, most loving and generous heart of anyone I know."

"I greatly admire his originality, creativity, ambition, work ethic and humor "” all qualities I'm sure he'll pass down to his child," she said. "He's always been wonderful with kids, and I'm sure he will be an amazing father."

As for their plans to have more kids after this baby is born next year, Stamos says it's a possibility. "I think so," he said. "Caitlin wants to have other kids too."

Congratulations to the happy couple!
