When it comes to finding the perfect animal companion to add to your home, many of us know that humane societies and rescues are an excellent option.
While it can be exciting to get a puppy from a young age and watch them grow up, there is something incredibly special and rewarding about finding a dog who needs help, and giving them a home where they will get the love they deserve.
Now the former vice president of the United States, Joe Biden, has decided that he was going to help out a dog in need and this weekend he found the perfect match.
The Biden family are known animal lovers, and have actually been fostering a dog named Major for a while. After becoming attached to the dog, Biden has decided to adopt Major permanently!
The Delaware Humane Association posted the excited news on Facebook with the world's cutest pictures of the VP with his new best friend.
The Biden family added a comment in the rescue's press release, expressing just how excited they were to have this little cutie join their family. "We are so happy to welcome Major to the Biden family, and we are grateful to the Delaware Humane Association for their work in finding forever homes for Major and countless other animals."
As for the DHA, they revealed where the sweet pup came from and how he had a rough start.
"Major was one of six puppies that was brought to DHA after being exposed to something toxic in their home. The puppies were surrendered to our care due to financial constraints, and working with a local veterinary emergency center, we were able to provide them with lifesaving medical care."
The Bidens were one of the families that took in the puppies, and obviously they couldn't resist that cute little face for long, and they decided they couldn't imagine their home without the sweet shepherd mix.
Patrick Carroll, executive director of the DHA was so happy that the Biden family was able to adopt Major.
"It was such an honor for us to adopt a puppy to Vice President Joe Biden and Dr. Jill Biden. We make friends for life at DHA and we know that the bond between humans and their pets is incredibly strong. We have adopted thousands of animals into homes in Delaware, and we are happy to add the Vice President and his family to our list."
Obviously, Major is a very good boy, and is going to a very good home. He will be so happy with the Biden family and it's nice to see that they were able to help out a pup in need!
