The last thing most travelers want to do when they land at their destination is get straight back on another plane.
But a hotel in sunny Costa Rica has transformed a retired jet pane into a luxury villa, and guests are rushing to get a boarding pass.
The Costa Verde Hotel is nestled between the lush rainforest and warm, sandy beaches, and their suite in an old Boeing 727 has great views of both.
The plane, which started carrying passengers in 1965, has been fastened to a 50-foot pillar, so it permanently soars along the treetops towards the beach.
But don't expect a cramped cabin inside. There's plenty of leg room and every seat in this suite is first class.
After stopping to enjoy a drink on the handcrafted decks (which rest on the wings) you can step inside the plane's fully renovated fuselage.
The entire cabin has been paneled in gorgeous, native teak wood. And with a small kitchen, guests don't have to settle for airline food.
There's room for the entire family or five of your closest friends, with three queen-size beds, two bathrooms, and comfortable air conditioning.
Small details throughout the plane make the unusual accommodations one-of-a-kind.
You can catch a glimpse of wild sloths, monkeys, and songbirds through the airplane's porthole windows, and the terrace offers stunning ocean views.
The master bedroom's shower also has a glass wall to take in the rainforest, so hopefully you're not shy.
Best of all, the area around the plane is only accessible through a suspension bridge, so the unique suite offers a quiet, private getaway.
If you need a little more space, or prefer to keep your feet on the ground, there's another "cockpit cottage" down the hill.
But don't let the wild surroundings fool you, you still get all the accomodations of a luxury hotel while "flying the friendly skies."
There are three pools and four restaurants within walking distance, with maid service and guided tours offered by the hotel.
If you have a serious case of wanderlust, you can book a trip to the Costa Verde Hotel here.
