Jessica Simpson Under Fire For Her Parenting Skills After Posting Online Video

You can argue that many celebrity parents do not pay attention to the harsh criticism they're subjected to by the parent police, but that still doesn't mean that their parenting choices should be called out whenever an opportunity presents itself.

Everyone is free to raise their children however they see fit as long as they're not breaking any laws, but every once in a while, people like to flock to a celebrity's comment section to weigh on how they should handle their kids.

This week, actress and singer Jessica Simpson has once again become the target of mommy-shamers after she posted a video of her four-year-old son, Ace, in a pool.

Us Weekly

The clip is a slow motion video of Simpson's husband, NFL player Eric Johnson, having fun with their son in the pool and throwing Ace into a back flip.

The "With You" singer wrote in the caption of the short video that "A broken bone doesn't hold this kiddo down," referring to Ace's broken arm, which was wrapped in a waterproof cast.

The Debbie downers had no qualms with Ace swimming with a broken arm, but they were riled up about the fact that Johnson was tossing his son "like he's throwing a ball or an object."

One user called it "the most ridiculous thing to be doing as a parent," and another wrote, "It wouldn't be so bad if his arm wasn't already broken. I see why people are concerned, it's dumb."

One comment called the couple "pretty stupid," before adding, "thanks for showing everyone how ignorant you guys are."

Thankfully, balance was restored in the comments when people who don't see anything wrong with Ace getting thrown in the pool came to Simpson and Johnson's defense.

"All I see is a great Dad and an extremely happy son. Works for me," one said. "Don't listen to the haters. Just because the kid has a broken arm doesn't mean he should be sidelined from the rest of life!" wrote a supporter.

"You people need to get a life. Stop judging other people there's nothing wrong with this picture. Kid loves it it's water he's not being thrown into concrete idiots," read another comment.

One user noted that this type of backlash is exactly why celebrities "who have been open about their private lives will soon construct fake social media persona and regular people(including ignorant negative haters) will never know how real and genuine many famous people are."

They added, "Can you blame them for hiding when every little NORMAL thing they do is criticized by people who really don't even matter in the scheme of things."

While the negative reaction has triggered some parents, Simpson and Johnson don't seem to care at all. The Dukes of Hazard actress has since shared another post, captioned "Mind Games," and showing off her outfit of the day.

This is just one of many instances in which Simpson's family have been targeted by mom-shamers.

Last year, the parent police were up in arms about Simpson allegedly dying her daughter's blonde hair to match her Belle Halloween costume.

"Please don't tell me she dyed her daughter's hair!!" wrote one concerned user. Another added, "Why would you color your daughter's hair at such a young age????????????"

Simpson did really dye her daughter's hair for the special occasion, but she used a temporary spray color. A photo she posted about a week after Halloween showed that Maxwell's locks were back to their natural hue.

A few months earlier, the singer was also called out for being a bad mother after she posted a photo of her then-five-year-old daughter, Maxwell, wearing a bikini while riding a scooter.

"This is an account anyone can see. Jessica shame on you for exposing your daughter instead of protecting her!" wrote one user.

Simpson eventually took down the controversial photo, but it didn't stop her from sharing other snaps of her beautiful kids.

We hope she continues to give us glimpses into her life. It's nice to see celebrities are just like us when they're not in movies or performing on stage.
