Major surgery is nothing to take lightly, and Teen Mom 2 star Jenelle Evans learned this the hard way this past week. The mom of three had to make a hard decision to have her tubes tied after recurring polyps and cysts kept causing her harm. Back in December, Evans "had biopsies done everywhere" as she tried to "get some answers for my health."
Evans told Us that irregular bleeding is what prompted her to get the procedure done.
"I decided to get this procedure because I had a really bad problem of irregular bleeding, which led to ultrasounds then led to my OBGYN suggesting exploration surgery and tubes being tied," she said. "She told me my IUD made my lining very thin, which isn't good. ... I would have never known about any of this unless I had this procedure done. In the long run, it was the best decision for my health and gave me a lot of answers to many problems I was experiencing."
Despite rumors of Evans and her husband David Eason splitting, he was apparently "by her side during the procedure." Eason also posted about the surgery on his Instagram story, revealing he bought his wife a surfboard for when she recovers.
"Got my babe a get well soon gift to encourage her to get back on her feet!" he wrote. "It sucks you had to go through this but at least we got some answers and you should be all better in no time! I love you so much!"
Evans answered some questions about her procedure on her Instagram stories while she recovered, and pointed out that the plan wasn't always to get an ovary removed, but it was something that needed to happen.
"[I] only [got] one tube tied," she explained. "When she tied the other my doc thought the blood supply might be cut off in the long run then die so she took it out completely."
Evans' decision to have her tubes tied couldn't have been easy, but she knew that in the long run, it wouldn't really affect her.
"I knew I was happy with the number of kids I have now," she admitted.
Evans has three kids: Jace, who is 9, Kaiser, who is 5, and Ensley, who is 2.
Evans may be answering questions on Instagram, but it was her rep that made an official statement on her recovery.
"She's healing properly and focusing on her business ventures," her rep told Us.
The closest thing Evans came to releasing a statement was on Wednesday, when she took to Instagram stories once again.
"I'm still crippled, y'all," the MTV star said. "I can't lift more than 20 pounds for two weeks, so I'm just sitting here while they're getting the groceries. I feel helpless.
