Jenelle Evans is speaking to the media after some courtroom altercations, plus rumors she calls "absurd." Evans and her husband, David Eason, are currently fighting for custody of their kids after Eason shot and killed the family dog. An investigation concluded that the home was unsafe for the kids, and they were removed from the home. Jenelle's son Jace and daughter Ensley are with her mother Barbara, while her son Kaiser is with his father, Nathan Griffith. Eason's daughter Maryssa is with her maternal grandmother.
Evans has been very vocal about wanting to get her kids back, and posted on Instagram about the love a child has for their mother.
"It’s the little things in life," she captioned a picture of herself wearing a necklace. "With everything that has been going on lately, I’ve come to realize a child’s love for their mother will never fade. No distance, not time, no person can change that special love. This necklace was given to me by my little bubba, Kaiser. He told me he wanted mommy to “match his”. My children are the sweetest and the best. 💞👧🏻👦🏼👦🏼 #MommasBabies#InMyHeart#AlwaysAndForever"
However, things weren't so lovey-dovey outside the court room. Evans and her mother got into a verbal argument when Evans gave her daughter a hug. Barbara seemed to take issue with it, saying that she only had half an hour to get Ensley lunch, so the longer Evans takes, Ensley will "go hungry."
“I’m right outside the courthouse, giving my daughter a hug,” Evans said to her. “If you have a problem with it, then go get an officer because obviously she’s not scared. I’m hugging her.”
“It’s only for the cameras,” Barbara said, referencing the TMZ cameras that were outside the court room.
Evans has always had a tumultuous relationship with her mom, and told Us Weekly that her mom is likely acting out of jealousy.
“I do feel like my relationship with my mom is destroyed at this point,” Evans said. “This isn’t a way a mother should be treating her daughter. She fights so hard for my sister and my brother when they are the ones with major issues, not me. I believe my mom is saying anything at this point to make herself feel better. It might all boil down to jealousy.”
Eason also got into an altercation after court, getting into it with Nathan Griffith while Griffith spoke with paparazzi. Eason flipped Griffith the bird and taunted him for speaking to the cameras. Griffith said the altercation would prompt him to file a restraining order against Eason.
Evans' kids - Jace, Kaiser, and Ensley - have all been the center of the drama because they're younger and have been on TV since they were born, but Eason's daughter Maryssa seems to have been left out of the headlines. Evans clarified that she and her husband are trying to get her back as well.
"The reports about custody are absurd," Evans said. "I don't understand why everyone thinks Maryssa is excluded out of this situation when every child is involved. We are fighting for all the children to come home. Maryssa's grandmother and mother have cut David off completely. He's being nice as possible and trying to check up on her and they refuse to answer the phone."
The former Teen Mom 2 star also said that her once-a-week supervised visits are extremely emotional.
"It's really hard holding my emotions together when your child doesn't want to let you go, but if you don't hold it together and break down it will make the child more concerned and upset," she explained.
The road ahead looks pretty long for Evans and Eason. The two have entered parenting classes and marriage counseling, but sources have said that there's a very simple way for Evans to get her kids back: leave Eason. He is the main holdup due to his actions and his temper. Evans has maintained that she'll be staying with her husband through all this, which could pose a long-term problem.
In the end, as long as the kids are safe, nothing else matters, but I wish that Evans would realize there are things that need to change before she'll have her family reunited again.
