After losing Y&R star Kristoff St. John and Beverly Hills, 90210 star Luke Perry in just a month, fans are sadly saying goodbye to another veteran TV actor.
Jed Allan, known for his roles on several soap operas and daytime TV dramas including General Hospital, Days of Our Lives, Santa Barbara and Beverly Hills, 90210, has passed away at age 84.
Allan's son, Rick Brown, broke the tragic news to a Facebook fan group dedicated to his father called "The Official Jed Allan Fan Page."
"So sorry to post the very sad news of my father's passing tonight," he wrote. "He died peacefully and was surrounded by his family and loved so much by us and so many others. Thank you for all who are part of this wonderful tribute to my dad on Facebook."
While Allan had a number of memorable roles throughout a career that stretched from 1951 to 2012, he is best remembered as the lawyer Don Craig from Days of Our Lives (which earned him a daytime Emmy nomination) and as Steve Sanders' father Rush on 90210.
He also had a recurring role on Lassie in the late 60s and early 70s.
Allan's 90210 co-star, Ian Ziering, paid tribute to him with an Instagram photo.
"So sad to hear we've lost another 90210 castmate. I had the pleasure of working with Jed Allan from 94 to 99," Ziering wrote. "Such a great guy to work with, he will be missed. #ripjedallan."
After retiring from the screen, Allan's fan page says he directed local theater productions near his home in Palm Desert, California.
While Allan's wife, Toby Brown, died in 2001, they are survived by their three sons.
