Normally, daytime audiences tune in to The View for discussions about hot topics. But guests Jane Fonda and Lily Tomlin spiced things up on Ellen this week.

The duo joined host Ellen DeGeneres to talk about the new season of their Netflix comedy, Grace and Frankie, but the conversation took a raunchy turn that seemed to shock DeGeneres.

On the series, Fonda and Tomlin's characters sell vibrators, but DeGeneres could only bring herself to mention the "product" they sell. Fonda corrected her - "Vibrator!" - before jumping into a discussion about the "products" that left the host speechless.

DeGeneres even wondered if she was allowed to discuss the "products" on daytime TV, before a photo of Fonda and Tomlin's characters holding them appeared on screen behind her.

"[My character] disappeared into my room, and when I came out I had carpal tunnel syndrome," Fonda joked.

Fonda also revealed she and Tomlin were actually headhunted by a vibrator company, who wanted them to promote their goods.

"They wanted us to make a demonstration film," Tomlin joked. "And I had to stop [Fonda] from signing the contract."

"I wanted to do it but she's so square," Fonda agreed.

Tomlin touched on another controversial subject, revealing she almost beat DeGeneres to the punch by coming out of the closet on the cover of Time magazine.

The actress said the magazine offered her the opportunity in 1975, 22 years before DeGeneres' famous "Yep, I'm Gay" cover.

"[Publicist Pat Kingsley] told me that Time would give me the cover if I came out," Tomlin remembered. "It was a hard decision to make."

Ultimately, Tomlin said she didn't regret passing up the offer because of the backlash it could have caused.

"I fell down on the side of, after what [Ellen] went through, probably good sense...I decided that I just wasn't going to play their game. I wanted to be acknowledged for my performance."

"I'm gonna come out," Fonda joked about the offer. "If they put me on the cover of Time, I'll come out."

The duo also bared all in a brutally honest quiz game, where they admitted their celebrity crushes: Fonda mentioned Liam Neeson, Blake Shelton, and Psycho star Tony Curtis, while Tomlin is still holding a torch for 1950s movie star Dorothy Malone.

Tomlin and Fonda will soon be reuniting with their 9 To 5 co-star Dolly Parton for a long-awaited sequel to the classic comedy.
