Looks like my dreams may be answered. Patrick Swayze’s life will be highlighted in a documentary about the late actor, who died of pancreatic cancer in 2009 at the age of 57.
The documentary comes from Paramount Network and Network Entertainment and bears the title: I Am Patrick Swayze.
There will be interviews with many of his former co-stars from films such as Dirty Dancing, including Sam Elliott, Jennifer Grey, Rob Lowe, Demi Moore, Lori Petty, Marshall R. Teague, Kelly Lynch, director Roland Joffe, agent Nicole David, manager Kate Edwards, personal assistant Rosemary Hygate, stuntman Cliff McLaughlin and bodyguard Frank Whiteley.
In the trailer we can hear Demi Moore, who starred in Ghost with him, talk about Patrick: “something about him that was very rugged, but that also had that beautiful, gentle, sensuous ability to move.”
There's also going to be interviews with his brother Don Swayze and widow Lisa.
The film explores Swayze’s childhood in Texas and his enduring relationship with widow Lisa Niemi, whom he met as a teenager at his mother's dance studio and married in 1975.
I Am Patrick Swayze is said to be a loving tribute to the prolific actor that showcases his life and career through untold stories, exclusive interviews, heartfelt home movies, and family photos featuring those who knew him best.
The documentary is a window into an artist's life that delves into his remarkable film career working on huge blockbuster hits like Dirty Dancing, The Outsiders, and Ghost.
The release of the documentary is part of Paramount Network’s I Am series, which has previously focused on the late actors Paul Walker and Heath Ledger. I Am Patrick Swayze, directed by Adrian Buitenhuis, will debut at the San Antonio Film Festival on Aug. 2 and will be available on Crave in Canada on Aug. 18 to mark the late actor’s birthday.
