You've heard it before. When it comes to retail it's all about location, location, location. Normally that means where your house is, but for Wanda Graves it was all about where she listed her house.
Graves was the real estate agent charged with trying to sell Mounce Mansion. The 107 year-old estate in Newport Landing, Canada. It boasts a classic charm and lots of well-cared for property, and was only listed for about $320,000 US. Despite all that Graves was having trouble drumming up interest, so she put the listing on Facebook.
Within a week her website has over 1 million hits and the Facebook post was shared over 36,000 times.
Graves said she had over 60 calls a day to sort through, and even ended up seeing a bidding war for her property.
"It surprised everyone that there was so much activity on something over 400,000 here," she said. "In Hants County, we don't have a lot of properties that sell over 400,000."
Newport Landing is a sleepy town on the Canadian east coast, but Graves said she had calls coming from all over North America.
There could only be one winning bid, but what about all those people who missed out?
"A lot of those people are on a list for me to find them a place...which is pretty cool," said Graves.
This just goes to show that Facebook can be a lot more than selfies and status updates.
