A series of three enormous storms led to both of Liz Currie's horses to get swept off. 20-year-old thoroughbred mare Voice fell victim to the flood waters that took over their farm and she was pulled away.
They searched for the two horses, finding one later that evening down the street in Clevdon, Auckland, but Voice was no where to be found. Almost two weeks later, Liz couldn't believe what she was seeing.
13 days after the storm, Voice was spotted walking up the road, just a few meters from where it had been taken from!
"Where she came from, I have no idea, because we've scoured every part of that river over and over again," Currie said after her horse was safe and sound.
Currie thinks she was stuck on a bank somewhere "because she was a real mess." She gave Voice a bath to get all the caked mud and sand off her.
She says that other than some minor scratches she has no injuries. She is looking a little thin and has been without food for a while so she will be getting the royal treatment now that she's home.
