Every year, Heidi Klum wins Halloween. I know, I know. It's not really a contest, but if it was...Klum would have it in the bag. Last year, the America's Got Talent judge went as a werewolf from the iconic Michael Jackson song, "Thriller."
It seems that as years go by, Klum's costumes get more and more elaborate, using prosthetics and incredible makeup to completely transform.
This year, Klum dressed up with her boyfriend Tom Kaulitz, and she said their costume would be "very, very cute."
"My kids know; they always know," she admitted. "They always wonder how it's done, and I have fittings and people come over when I have to try different pieces on. So a lot of the times they are a part of the process and they see it happen."
Klum shared a sneak peek of the costume on her Instagram page, but it was hard to figure out what she was hinting at. What we did know, however, is that it would be extreme.
"In the beginning stages (of the parties), I didn't know about these (prosthetics) professionals yet and I did my own hair and make-up, and I had some people who would help me put the clothes together," she said.
Now that Klum's party is in its 19th year, the prosthetics are all part of the process.
"When you do prosthetics and all of this stuff, I'm always having my fingers and toes crossed that it actually does work out on the day because there was no dress rehearsal," she admitted. "Because we can't actually glue all these things down and see if it actually really works. So it's always a bit nerve-wracking for me, too, that it actually does work out in the end. Usually it does, but you just never know until the day comes."
But now that Halloween is here, Klum could stop hiding her costume from the world, and gave fans an inside look at her and Kaulitz getting ready. Their costume? Shrek and Fiona! At first it was hard to figure out what they were going to be...but those green faces ultimately gave it away. Take a look at some of the "behind-the-scenes" work before checking out the big reveal!
And this was the overall finished product!
The costume is so elaborate, I never would have known it was Klum under there. Talk about a transformation! Next year will be the 20th anniversary of her Halloween parties, and I'd be willing to bet she's already started planning her costume for that milestone!
