Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's mission to forge their own path within the royal family is in full force. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are reportedly ending their partnership with Prince William and Kate Middleton on the Royal Foundation.
The foundation, which was co-founded by Prince Harry and Prince William in 2009, supports a variety of charities that focus on conservations, veterans, mental health, children and youth and empowering communities.
Both Kate and Meghan have played important roles within the foundation since joining the royal family.
Although Meghan only joined in 2018, her contributions include participating in the 2018 Royal Foundation Forum, writing a charity cookbook and teaming up with Harry and the Cambridges to launch a mental health texting hotline, Shout.
Despite all the good work the "Fab Four" have been doing together, it is reported that a split is imminent. According to The Sun's royal correspondent Emily Andrews, the Royal Foundation will remain but will no longer be a joint effort between the Sussexes and the Cambridges.
"The two couples will go their own way and pursue their charities separately," Andrews revealed after receiving the information from a source.
"The couples have been given two options—the first is to leave things as they are and the second a complete split," the source shared. "Nothing has been formally ratified but all the mood music is suggesting the Sussexes will break away. The Sussexes weren't in a rush to make any changes, but the Cambridges were. However it’s a complex procedure and very sensitive."
A Royal Foundation meeting is scheduled for June 19, and an official announcement of the split is expected to be made.
A spokesperson for the Royal Foundation confirmed that "there is a review under way and no decision has been taken." Neither the Buckingham Palace nor the Kensington Palace have commented on the matter.
The rumors about Harry and Meghan's departure from the Royal Foundation comes not too long after the couple moved out of Kensington Palace, where they lived in close proximity to William and Kate. The Sussex's now call Frogmore Cottage at Windsor Castle home. The reason for their move was never revealed, but it has been reported that Harry wanted "to escape the goldfish bowl of royal life" as he and Meghan establish their own household and start a family.
In addition to leaving London, the couple, who recently welcomed their first child, hired a head of communications and created their own official Instagram page.
These big changes have been fuelling the reports of a feud between Kate and Meghan, but Kensington Palace has already squashed the rumors once with a statement that simply read, "This never happened."
