On November 22, 2016, a little over a month before her unexpected death on December 27, Carrie Fisher released The Princess Diarist, a revealing book in which the actress gave fans a candid and hilarious look at what went on behind the scenes on the set of the first Star Wars film.
Fisher did not just stop at the hijinks that took place during filming, she also revealed some intimate details about her personal life like her three-month "intense" affair with her co-star, Harrison Ford.
The actress who played Princess Leia alongside Ford's Han Solo was only 19 when she dated the 33-year-old actor, who was a married father of two at the time.
"It was Han and Leia during the week, and Carrie and Harrison during the weekend," she told People Magazine in an interview last year.
When the magazine asked why she chose to disclose this information when she did, she replied, "It's been 40 years!"
Fisher said that she gave Ford a heads up before including the details of their tryst in the book.
"Harrison's very private, but I think I waited an appropriate amount of time. How much longer could I wait?"
Now, nearly a year since the book hit shelves, Ford has broken his silence on Fisher's confession about their romance.
In an interview with GQ Magazine, the 75-year-old actor was asked to share his thoughts on Carrie's revelation.
Ford reaffirmed that Fisher did ask for his permission before airing out their dirty laundry to the public. He recalled being given a warning "to a degree." However, he did not explain what that entailed. In fact, Ford seemed reluctant throughout the portion of the interview that touched on this subject.
The actor was asked, "How strange for you was it when Carrie Fisher put out her "˜Star Wars' book?"
"It was strange. For me," he replied.
Ford admitted that he didn't read the book and when asked if he'd prefer that it hadn't been written, he said he didn't want to answer.
The actor held in his feelings about the entire situation and refused to divulge anymore information than what we already know, citing Fisher's sudden death as one of the reasons.
"Oh, I don't know. I don't know. You know, with Carrie's untimely passing, I don't really feel that it's a subject that I want to discuss," he said.
Those hoping to fish more information out of Ford, should lower their expectations because it seems like this is all we'll be getting out of him for now.
