There have been some pretty infamous criminal couples throughout the years, ones that have lead the authorities on wild cross-country chases and that have often ended up with somebody dying.
Most infamous is probably Bonnie and Clyde, the duo of bank robbers who lived fast and died young at the hand of the police, Or, maybe you're familiar with Paul Bernardo and Karla Homolka, the serial-killer couple who murdered several girls and were both convicted for it.
Suffice it to say, it's rarely surprising when a criminal's partner decides to join in on the fun, which has given rise to some of the most infamous stories in the history of major crimes. However, in the case of Chance Mongeon, it was his girlfriend, Cristy Cardwell, having second thoughts about the whole thing that lead to his arrest. She thought she was going to be able to walk away with the reward money, but unfortunately for her, it looks like she too will soon be behind bars...
Mongeon had just jumped the counter at a car rental facility in Nashville and stolen a 2017 Dodge Challenger. Soon afterwards, police received a phone call from Cardwell, who said that she knew where he had taken the car, but that she wouldn't tell them where until they gave her reward money first. In her own words, she "knew the law very well and didn't have to give him up.
When the police inevitably turned down her offer and later caught up to Mongeon, it turned out that Cardwell was riding with him in the stolen car. While he was apprehended for the theft, she was arrested as an accessory and charged with harboring and abetting a fugitive, failure to cooperate with police, and obstruction of justice.
Bonnie and Clyde these two were not.
