Being a young woman in today's world is a little scary...not that I would know at this age! But when I look and see all these preteens walking around with full faces of makeup, fancy clothes, and designer bags, I wonder if they're even enjoying their childhood.
But one thing every girl goes through, no matter what era they grew up in, is getting their period. I remember when I first got mine, and I was so terrified I didn't even tell my mom. I was 12 years old, and it wasn't until my mom was doing the laundry that she figured it out. Our school's health class wasn't too thorough, so I figured if I was bleeding that much then I must have been dying. I can laugh about it now, but it was horrifying at the time.
I was lucky, though, because my first period came at home. I can't even imagine what it would be like if I had a leak at school...that's the stuff nightmares are made of! For one young girl, though, that nightmare became a reality.
According to a post on Facebook, the identity of the user having been blacked out, a young student got her period while on the bus ride home and she didn't even realize it. It wasn't until a boy a year older than her walked over that she figured it out.
But rather than making fun of her or making a scene, the boy did something this mom (and surely daughter) will never forget.
My daughter started her period on the bus ride home today. A boy a year older than her...that she doesn't really know...pulled her aside and whispered in her ear that she had a stain on the back of her pants and gave her his sweater to tie around her waist so she could walk off the bus.She said she was kind of embarrassed and originally said it's okay, but the boy insisted and told her "˜I have sisters, it's all good!' If you are this boy's mom, I want to say thank you and that you are raising him right!!
We hear so many bad things about today's youth and I wanted to share something positive!

I'll admit, I wasn't expecting this story to end the way it did! It seems like young boys get a bad reputation for being insensitive, and admittedly they deserve it sometimes, but this just goes to show that proper parenting can raise young boys into young men.
