They say beauty is in the eye of the beholder, but people are in unison when they say one five-year-old from Nigeria is the "most beautiful in the world."
After photographer Mofe Bamuyiwa shared pictures of Jare Ijalana on social media last week, they quickly went viral, with the public commenting that the young girl is "beautiful," "absolutely stunning," and "doll-like."
So far, the three posts have garnered more than 70,000 likes Instagram, and it isn't hard to see why with her memorizing eyes, healthy locks, and flawless complexion.
What makes the photos even more captivating are her adult-like poses.
"I want to portray the interception between her childhood and adulthood so both stay timeless!" Bamuyiwa captioned one of the shots. "I could have made her smile and make her laugh out loud but I put her in their natural moments for us to see through their eyes!"
"Jare isn't a professional model," Bamuyiwai told Yahoo Lifestyle. "All I want is for everyone to see Jare's powerful potential. ... I want the photo to speak to her when she has reached her adulthood."
But, Jare isn't the only beauty in her family either. Her two older sisters, Jomi, 7, and Joba, 10, have also been photographed by Bamuyiwai, and says they also have "striking features and strong characters."
"Asides [sic] that [Jomi] is bright and beautiful, she is very coordinated and every pose directed , she did better than I told her to do. She definitely has buttressed and given me more proof that every little girl dreams of being a woman," Bamuyiwai wrote in the picture's Instagram caption.
But, this isn't the first time a young girl has been called the most beautiful girl in the world.
At only six years old, French model Thylane Blondeau took the world by storm after she appeared in a photo shoot for Vogue Paris supplement called Vogue Enfants.
Blondeau, who had walked the runways since she was four, was the center of controversy in 2011 after she was featured in a Vogue Paris spread. She was adoring a face full of makeup and wearing high heels, with feminist website Jezebel calling the photos "purposefully, knowingly disturbing."
"I understand that this could seem shocking. I admit I myself was shocked during the photo shoot," her mother Véronika Loubry said in defense of the pictures. "But let me be precise: the only thing that shocked me is that the necklace she wore was worth €3 million!"
But that didn't put a halt to the young girl's career. She has since signed with IMG Models, appeared in several magazines, including a spread in Teen Vogue and on the cover of Jalouse magazine. She's walked the runways for major fashion houses including Chanel, Lacoste, Ralph Lauren, and Dolce & Gabana, and became the spokesperson for L'Oreal Paris.
At what age would you allow your child to become a model?
