Gingers around the world are now able to celebrate because they will finally have red-heads included in the emoji options.
After years of campaigning, an outline of what the ginger emojis will look like has been put forward to the Emojipedia, according to an article in the Telegraph. According to the proposal, the emojis could extend to a man and a woman with ginger hair, but could go as far as including a ginger dancer or a red-headed version of the 'facepalm' emoji.
"The lack of a redhead emoji has been the most frequent complaint from users in the past three months, said Jeremy Burge, founder of Emojipedia, an emoji website.
Emojis have become a lot more diverse to include different races and genders doing a number of occupations, as well as activities. With different choices of hair colours and skin tones, as well as genders, the redheads still don't have the option.
An online petition which demanding ginger emojis, gained 20,000 signatures. Redheads make up less than 2% of the world's population, but in Scotland, Wales and Ireland, where this petition started, it's closer to 10%.
Hugo Davies, a 21 year old redhead from East Sussex said, "Gingers always get a bit of a hard time, so it's great if we get some positive recognition. I know I'll use it."
