A little over a year after Gabrielle Union wrote in her memoir that she has had "eight or nine" miscarriages throughout her life, she finally became a mother.
The Bring It On actress and her NBA star husband Dwayne Wade surprised the world on November 8 when they announced the arrival of their first child together on Instagram, revealing that they opted for surrogacy.
"We are sleepless and delirious but so excited to share that our miracle baby arrived last night via surrogate and 11/7 will forever be etched in our hearts as the most loveliest of all the lovely days. Welcome to the party sweet girl!" Union captioned the photo.
In the days that followed, the couple shared a few more photos of their newborn daughter, but when it came to the name, they kept their fans guessing, until now.
Last week, Wade, 36, finally revealed his new baby's unique name - Kaavia James Union Wade - which he now has tattooed on his shoulders.
Two days later, Union, 46, also took to Instagram to make sure everyone can pronounce her daughter's rare moniker correctly.
The Being Mary Jane star posted a photo of herself holding her baby and showing off a big smile.
"Just greazzzy and happy. That is all," she captioned the photo. The glowing mom added that Kaavia is "pronounced Kah-Vee-Uh James."
However, for those who may still have trouble saying the name the right way, there's no need to worry because the nearly two-week-old baby already has "102 nicknames including but not limited to Kaav, Kaavi, Kaavi Baby, Kaavi J, Jamie, KJ, Nugget, Nug, Pooters."
As for Kaavia's two middle names, Union explained that they wanted to make sure that her family was "represented in her name."
My godfather is my uncle James Glass. She is named after him.. and then Union...thats... ya know...me," she wrote. She half-jokingly added, "I've waited this long so fo sho I was gonna get in there."
Kaavia is Union and Wade's first child together, but she isn't an only child. She joins Wade's children, Zaire, Xavier and Zion, from his first marriage to Siohvaughn Funches.
Congratulations to the happy parents!
