The FBI's "Most Viewed" File Could Confirm One Of History's Biggest Conspiracies

FBI/Those Conspiracy Guys

Something I'd love to do is read through old FBI cases. I find true crime and cold cases fascinating, so being able to have unlimited access to these files would be incredible.

I was surprised to learn that there is, in fact, online FBI database where you can gain access to once-classified files that have now been made public.

You would think the most viewed one would have something to do with a presidential investigation or perhaps a cold case murder.

But it turns out, the most-viewed FBI file from the database is only two paragraphs long, and it's called The Hottel Memo.

What Is It?

On March 22, 1950, Guy Hottel penned this note as the head of the FBI's Washington field office. There are a lot of things this memo could have pertained to, but it turns out it could confirm something we already knew.

Hottel had taken down an account from a former Air Force investigator, who supposedly recovered a trio of flying saucers along with their alien crew.

An investigator for the Air Forces stated that three so-called flying saucers had been recovered in New Mexico. They were described as being circular in shape with raised centers, approximately 50 feet in diameter. Each one was occupied by three bodies of human shape but only 3 feet tall, dressed in metallic cloth of a very fine texture. Each body was bandaged in a manner similar to the blackout suits used by speed flyers and test pilots.

According to Mr. [retracted] informant, the saucers were found in New Mexico due to the fact that the government has a very high-powered radar set-up in that area and it is believed the radar interferes with the controlling mechanism of the saucer.

No further evaluation was attempted by SA [retracted] concerning the above.

Federal Bureau of Investigation

Why It's Important

If this memo holds any truth, it could be the evidence that believers have been looking for for ages. Millions of people around the world are adamant that the government is hiding information about alien life on planet Earth, and a further investigation could have helped prove it.

Why The FBI Doesn't Care

It seems like a pretty big deal to have a legitimate confirmation of potential alien lifeforms, but the FBI never followed up on it.

A lot of people who have read the memo called on the FBI to dig further, and the Bureau even addressed their concerns in a post on their website.

They called the memo "an unconfirmed report that the FBI never even followed up on."

The FBI has only occasionally been involved in investigating reports of UFOs and extraterrestrials. For a few years after the Roswell incident, Director Hoover did order his agents"”at the request of the Air Force"”to verify any UFO sightings.

That practice ended in July 1950, four months after the Hottel memo, suggesting that our Washington Field Office didn't think enough of that flying saucer story to look into it

The FBI also states that the memo is most likely the result of a hoax.

The Hottel memo does not prove the existence of UFOs; it is simply a second- or third-hand claim that we never investigated. Some people believe the memo repeats a hoax that was circulating at that time, but the Bureau's files have no information to verify that theory.

Sorry, no smoking gun on UFOs. The mystery remains ...

Astronaut Opinion

Edgar Mitchell, a former Apollo 14 astronaut, confirmed that there are extraterrestrial life forms out there.

"We are being visited," he said. "It is now time to put away this embargo of truth about the alien presence. I call upon our government to open up ... and become a part of this planetary community that is now trying to take our proper role as a spacefaring civilization."

Mitchell continued:

"The sun will burn out in due course, and we have to be off this planet if our species is to survive. At this point in human history on this planet, we're now starting, and should be, to reach out beyond our planet and then beyond our solar system to find out what is really going on out there."

Mitchell holds a PhD in aeronautics and astronautics from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and was the sixth astronaut to walk on the moon, which was the longest moonwalk in history.

The astronaut grew up in Roswell, New Mexico, where it is believed that the government is hiding an alien compound. Mitchell says that as residents of the town, they were "hushed and told not to talk about their experience by military authorities." According to him, the military threatened "dire consequences" to anyone who spoke about it.

Mitchell said that people often told him about their eyewitness accounts of alien sightings because they "didn't want to go to the grave with their story. They wanted to tell somebody reliable. And being a local boy and having been to the moon, they considered me reliable enough to whisper in my ear their particular story.".

Do you think there are alien lifeforms visiting Earth?
