he next generation of royals have arrived and they are sassy and adorable!
I for one, look forward to watching them grow. You never know these mini royals may one day be the king or queen. Just for fun, I thought I would look at who they are and who's in line for the throne - no matter how far off they are.
Though the wonderful Queen Elizabeth II, now 93 years of age show absolutely no signs of slowing down there is a very specific order to who could one day take her place on the throne. Spoiler, they aren't all children but a lot of them are.
1. PRINCE CHARLES
Now 70, the prince has been heir to the throne since 1951 following the death of his grandfather King George VI, making him the oldest and longest serving Prince of Wales in British history. A recent poll indicates that almost 46% of Brits would approve if Prince of Wales passed the crown directly to Prince William.
2. PRINCE WILLIAM
Prince William currently sits next in line to the throne and will one day take over as king, following his father, the Prince of Wales.
3. PRINCE GEORGE
Though it's possible — and very likely — that Prince George will one day be king, his father and mother aren't in any rush to tell him. Why? Because they want to give him as normal an upbringing as possible.
"There'll be a time and a place to bring George up and understand how he fits in, in the world," Prince William revealed in a previous interview. Until that time, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are determined to shelter George and his siblings, Charlotte and Louis, as much as possible so they can enjoy their early years.
4. PRINCESS CHARLOTTE
Though Charlotte has a younger brother (more on him in just a minute), she will maintain the fourth-in-line position because of the Succession to the Crown Act 2013, which went into effect just a few weeks before her arrival, and removed a long-held rule which stated that any male sibling (regardless of birth order) would automatically move ahead of her.
5. PRINCE LOUIS
The birth of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge's third child changes the line of succession again: Prince George and Princess Charlotte's new baby brother is now fifth in line to the throne, bumping uncle Harry out of the top five and into sixth place.
6. PRINCE HARRY
His spot changes a lot, but as Charles' second son he holds a spot. The all-action Prince Harry, 34, has spent most of his life being the third in line to the throne, behind his brother Prince William, but has now found himself being bumped down a place to sixth. His first-born child will become seventh in line to the throne – but only if the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have no more children.
7. Prince Archie
Meghan and Harry's first-born is seventh in line to the throne. Since the birth of their first child, all subsequent royals are now one position lower in the succession.
8. Prince Andrew, Duke of York
Born Andrew Albert Christian Edward, on 19 February 1960 the Duke of York is the third child and second son of Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh.
9. PRINCESS BEATRICE OF YORK
Beatrice Elizabeth Mary was born on the 8 August 1988. She is the elder daughter of Prince Andrew, Duke of York, and Sarah, Duchess of York. In an interview to mark her 18th birthday, Princess Beatrice said that she wanted to use her position to assist others through charity work.
10. PRINCESS EUGENIE OF YORK
Eugenie Victoria Helena was born on March 23, 1990. She is the younger daughter of Prince Andrew, Duke of York, and Sarah, Duchess of York. In 2017, Eugenie became the ambassador for the Artemis Council of the New Museum, a by-invitation membership initiative focused solely on supporting female artists. Last year she married Jack Brooksbank. The wedding took place at St George's Chapel, Windsor Castle, on 12 October 2018
11. PRINCE EDWARD, EARL OF WESSEX
Edward Antony Richard Louis was born on 10 March 1964. He is the youngest of four children and the third son of Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh. At the time of his birth, he was third in line of succession to the British throne; as of June 2019, he is 11th. The Earl is a full-time working member of the British royal family and supports the Queen in her official duties – often alongside his wife, the Countess of Wessex – as well as undertaking public engagements for a large number of his own charities.
12. James, Viscount Severn
James Alexander Philip Theo Mountbatten-Windsor; born 17 December 2007), is the younger child and only son of Prince Edward, Earl of Wessex, and Sophie, Countess of Wessex, and the youngest grandchild of Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh. She is also known for equestrian talents; she won two silver medals (1975) and one gold medal (1971) at the European Eventing Championships.
15. Peter Phillips
Peter Mark Andrew Phillips was born the 15th of November, 1977. He is the elder child and only son of Anne, Princess Royal, and her first husband, Captain Mark Phillips. In 2003, Phillips met Autumn Kelly, a Canadian management consultant, at the Formula 1 Canadian Grand Prix in Montreal. Their engagement was announced on 28 July 2007. Autumn Kelly, who was raised in the Roman Catholic Church, was received into the Church of England before her marriage. If she had been Roman Catholic at the time of the marriage, Phillips would have lost his place in the line of the succession to the throne because of the terms of the Act of Settlement 1701.
16. & 17. Savannah and Isla Phillips
The Queen's first great-grandchild, Savannah Anne Kathleen, was born on the 29th of December 2010. On 29th March 2012, Isla Elizabeth, was born at Gloucestershire Royal Hospital.
