TV host Ellen DeGeneres has been having the best week ever celebrating her 60th birthday, which was on January 26.
Her fellow celebrities, including Jennifer Aniston, who was the first-ever guest on The Ellen Show 15 years ago, have been trying to make this milestone extra special by appearing on the show and going down memory lane with her.
"You get me in a part of my funny button like nobody else ... and my heart" Aniston said. "You are extraordinarily beloved."
Viral sensations Sophia Grace and Rosie, who had a segment on the show, echoed Aniston's sentiments in a touching video message for the woman of the hour.
However, none of them could top what Ellen's wife, Portia de Rossi, did for her during a recent appearance on her show.
Portia surprised her partner the "best" birthday present, and it was so incredibly special that it moved the comedian to tears.
Portia, who has been married to Ellen since 2008, admitted that she put a lot of thought into the gift because she wanted something that screamed Ellen.
"It's your 60th birthday and this gift had to be really special and it had to represent who you are and what you really care about," Portia explained. "Not just now, but what you've always cared about. What you were influenced by and what has made you the amazing person that you are today. So, I combined that and questions when we first met like who's your idol? And what would you do if you weren't a talk show host?"
She continued, "So, I combined that with the fact that literally guys, for like the last two years, Ellen has said to me I feel like I'm not doing enough. Every day, almost. So, I put all that together and I got you this gift. So, let's see it "“ happy birthday!"
The camera then cut to a video featuring Ellen's hero and the person who inspired her love for animals, conservationist Dian Fossey. Portia then dropped the bombshell that made her wife weep: "So, for your birthday, Ellen, I am bringing you and your hero, Dian, together by building The Ellen DeGeneres Campus of the Dian Fossey Gorilla Fund."
But that was not all. Portia informed Ellen that she "also set up a foundation in your name called The Ellen DeGeneres Wildlife Fund." She added, "So, this is the first initiative for the fund that you can take this and do whatever you want with it. You've done amazing work for elephants and you can just continue and support whatever you want to do."
The foundation's website is already up and running, so you learn more about it here.
