Ian Cadman was a 58 year-old man with autism. His entire life he had one obsession that consumed most of his mind and that was monkeys.
He collected over 800 different monkey toys in his lifetime and lined his walls with photos of his favorite animal.
When Ian was diagnosed with colon cancer and had only five weeks to live, his family decided to make his dream come true.
His family wanted to get him a surprise visit with a monkey are the local Knowsley Safari Park. It was all arranged, but because he was so ill it turned out that he couldn't leave the hospital. Lucky for him, his family wasn't going to let that stop them from making his dream come true.
On the day that ended up being his last, Ian Cadman was visited by a two-year-old marmoset named Millie.
Ian's twin sister Karen was grateful to have this experience as one of his last, saying that "to know he's had a real monkey there with him, meant so much to us."
Ian had spent his whole life surrounded by monkeys, always keeping a toy or two near him - even in the hospital - and he would sponsor monkeys at the Monkey World in Dorset. They were his favorite things in the whole world and it was nice that he finally go to meet one in person.
