Watching Dukes of Hazzard was a weekly ritual that a lot of us were super fond of. Those good ol' boys were always making us smile whether it was with their crazy stunts or their words about Rosco P. Coltrane, but it has been a while since the show aired.
John Schneider played Bo Duke, the blonde-haired, impulsive, younger Duke cousin who was always the one to scream "Yeee-haaa" as they sailed over all kinds of ditches, rivers, and general obstacles. His carefree attitude made him an instant heartthrob for millions of women, but recently his life has taken a more dramatic turn.
Obviously, real life is not like a TV show, you can't just call on your cousins to help you out of a sticky situation. But Schneider is now realizing that his character's carefree ways do not translate into the real world well.
Schneider has been sentenced to jail time after failing to pay alimony to his ex-wife. Schneider was married to Elvira Castle for 21 years, but in 2014, she filed for divorce.
She sought out spousal support stating that because she was a stay-at-home mom through their marriage so she no longer could compete in the workforce.
His monthly payments totaled $18,911 which he didn't provide for the entire period of September 2016 through May 2017.
She took him to court to get the money back and the judge gave him a deadline of March to pay the over $150,000 in delinquent alimony.
Schneider failed to do so, and now the judge has sentenced him to three days in the L.A. County jail.
Not only that, but he now has 240 hours of community service that he has to do. He also still needs to pay the alimony.
According to TMZ he could be in jail as soon as Tuesday, June 12th where he will be expected to spend three days.
While I am sure Bo Duke spent a fair amount of time in the Hazzard County Jail, I'm sure this isn't quite what Schneider is used to.
It's crazy to think that he has to spend time in jail, but Duke's of Hazzard is was still one of the best shows out there.
