The men of Duck Dynasty are known for two things: their duck hunting abilities and their beards.
The show follows the Robertson family who own their family-operated business, Duck Commander. The business makes products for duck commanders, and the show follows the family through their business ventures as well as family time.
Phil and Marsha Kay Robertson, the matriarch and patriarch of the family, have five children who help run the business: Willie, Jason, Jules, Marshal, and Silas. Willie and Jason also have their own kids. The family is big, but that's how they like it.
The family is strong in their faith, recognizing that they have been given a gift and it's their duty to give back. This is why Willie and Korie Robertson have adopted children into their family.
"It's an expression of our faith," Willie said. "God's been so good to us."
"Children are never easy," Korie added. "But they're always worth it."
The family also gives back through the Mia Moo Fund, which raises money to help children born with a cleft lips/palates. Jason and his wife, Missy, have a daughter who was born with a cleft palate which required six surgeries to repair.
"We're here to assure that each and every child has a warm and bright smile, because we know that is what they deserve," says the Mia Mood Fund homepage. "Even more importantly, we're dedicated to assure that children with cleft lip, along with their families, can find happiness and joy through motivation from others, support and research towards the causes and treatments of cleft lip / palate."
As a way to raise money for the Mia Moo Fund, Jase took donations towards shaving his beard. If he reached $100,000, Jase agreed to shave his beard and cut his hair.
Who, besides Missy, would like to see a clean-shaven Jase?" the donation page wrote. "Did you know he has those famous Robertson dimples? Did you also know that, before the filming demands of Duck Dynasty, he would shave the day after duck season ended each year before growing it out in time for the next duck season? Did you know it's been seven long years since he has shaved? SEVEN!""
The $100,000 was raised, and Jase took to Facebook to share the journey.
So what does 7 years of beard disappearing look like?
Jase and his team of many hairdressers posted a time-lapsed video of the Dynasty star getting trimmed. His beard and his crazy head of hair were all shaved away so he could raise money for his daughter - what a dad!
Seeing him without the beard is totally mind-blowing! He looks about 20 years younger, and I never would have recognized him.
Jase Robertson shows us that regardless of your 'traditions' or routine, your kids always come first. Thank you to the Robertsons for not only raising money for helping kids with cleft lips and palates, but also for raising awareness!
