Matt and Kristin Loboda were visiting family in Phoenix, Arizona, when Matt suddenly realized that their 19-month-old daughter was missing.
In a moment of panic, the worried father ran to the Koi pond, thinking that she might have fallen in. He couldn't see any sign of her, but then a wave of dread washed over him. "In my heart, I knew something was terribly wrong.... I heard the Holy Spirit tell me to run to the pool," writes Matt on his Facebook page.
Even though the pool was fenced-in, he knew that somehow she had gotten in. He sprinted to the pool and what he saw made his heart stop. There, floating in the cold water, was little Joy's lifeless body.
The panicked father leapt into the water and pulled his baby girl out. His brother-in-law began CPR and an someone called an ambulance. With every breath he prayed that God would bring his little girl back to life.
"Her lips were blue, and her beautiful blue eyes were wide open. I could see her pupils shrinking at an alarming rate...I knew we needed a miracle because I could actually feel her slipping away," he wrote.
When first responders arrived, they witnessed a family struggling to keep their precious little girl alive. A father and uncle bent over her lifeless body, her mother, holding her tiny hand and praying harder than she's ever prayed before.
Joy was rushed to the hospital where doctors were able to establish a heartbeat. She was put in a medical coma and placed on a ventilator. The family prayed vigilantly, day and night, and requested other believers to do the same.
Then, days later, little Joy awoke. She was responsive and breathing on her own!
Kristin's brother, Fr. Ignatiur Mazanowski, F.H.S., believes that Joy's recovery "is a testament to her parent's love and care and the thousands of people who have been praying for little Joy."
Her recovery is truly a miracle!
A GoFundMe account has been set up for the Lobodas to help with the cost of Joy's recovery and the care of their four other children.
