There are certain songs that only get better with time, and "Jolene" is one of them.

The Dolly Parton hit was released in 1973, and it quickly climbed to the top of the charts, earning the country superstar two Grammy nominations.

Parton wrote the heartbreaking song after she saw a red-headed woman flirt with her husband, Carl Dean. In the song, she pleads for the woman not to take her husband away just because she can.

Parton performed "Jolene" for the first time ever on The Porter Wagoner Show, but she has since released a few different versions of the classic.

In 2017, her rendition of the song featuring a capella group Pentatonix even won a Grammy. Just when we thought she couldn't top that, she proved us wrong.

The legendary entertainer recently released the soundtrack for her upcoming Netflix film Dumplin', and it's chock full of great music by some of today's biggest female artists, including Sia and Miranda Lambert.

However, there's one song on the album that people just can't get enough of - Parton's stripped-down take on "Jolene."

In the latest version of the 45-year-old tune, Parton is accompanied by a string section and the entire thing is hauntingly beautiful.

It gets even better when you watch the Steel Magnolias star belt out the powerful lyrics in the special behind-the-scenes video.

Fans have taken to social media to praise Parton's "voice and the orchestration on the new cut."

"Beautiful and heart rending. In love with this incredible performance," wrote one fan on Twitter while another called Parton "a national treasure."

Others said the fresh take on the classic gave them "literal chills."

"Like I need to go get a sweater chills. Amazing," wrote a fan.

In addition to the goosebumps-inducing "Jolene," Parton has re-recorded six old songs as well as six brand new ones for the movie starring Jennifer Aniston.

The film, which was pitched to Netflix by the Friends alum, is based on the novel of the same name by Julie Murphy. It tells the story of Willowdean, a plus-sized teen who enters the pageant world and comes to number of different realizations about her life.

The film will make its debut on the streaming service on December 7. In the meantime, you can grab the soundtrack album from Amazon to hold you over till then.
