Dina Lohan, mother of starlet Lindsay Lohan, is currently starring on Celebrity Big Brother. She's doing pretty well for herself, laying low and not stirring up too much drama, but it's her personal news, not her gameplay, that's now got people talking.
Lohan was talking to Kandi Burruss, Tamar Braxton, and Natalie Eva Marie, some of her fellow housemates, when the topic of her boyfriend came up.
"I can't wait to tell you about this guy," she told them excitedly. "I've been talking to him for five years. Like, every day. A lot. I feel like I know him."
"You know when you talk to someone on the phone, like you feel like you know them?" she added.
Sounds wonderful, right? Sure. That is, until you realize that Lohan has never actually met this guy before, they only talk to each other on the phone. No FaceTime, no Skype, never an in-person meeting. It's always just on the phone. Lohan's housemates tried to point out that it's entirely possible the celebrity is getting scammed or "catfished," but she wasn't having any of it. To Lohan, this love is real.
"It's personal," she said. "He's real. I swear, it's crazy. But I'm going to marry him. It's really, really true. I talk to his ma!"
The reason Lohan and her beau have never met is because she's based out of New York, but he's living in San Francisco while taking care of his sick mom, so meeting in person hasn't been an option. Braxton offered to go with Lohan to meet this guy for the first time, so that she had someone there in case the whole thing was fake.
"It's real!" Dina insisted. "Some guys don't just use iPhones!"
"Lies! It's 2019. My mom is 71 and she uses [FaceTime]," Braxton told Lohan.
In the her Diary Room interview, which happens away from all the other houseguests, Tamar wasn't buying it.
"How come Lindsay Lohan's mom got a Catfish?" she asked the camera. "Everybody FaceTimes, my 5-year-old son FaceTimes."
Lohan's ex-husband, Michael Lohan, spoke out her current love life in an interview, and admitted that it was strange for Dina to have never met this guy.
"How she thinks he's a boyfriend is beyond me, but hey, stranger things have happened with Dina," he said in the interview. "I just hope she's not putting herself in a dangerous position with this guy."
Like Dina's housemates, Michael admitted the situation seems odd.
"It strikes me weird that after five years they haven't met given he said he's so wealthy," he added.
If the Dina and her secret boyfriend were to marry, it would be her second marriage. Her divorce with Michael was finalized over a decade ago.
While I want to believe that people can find love in all kinds of situations, I find it incredibly odd that for five years, neither Dina nor her boyfriend were able to make the trip across the country to meet the other. Something isn't adding up to me, but who am I to judge?
