Talk show hosts love to pull hidden camera pranks on their famous guests, but they rarely go off as well as the trick James Corden played on soccer star David Beckham.
With a new statue of Beckham, 43, set to be unveiled at the LA Galaxy's stadium, Corden recreated the unveiling of the "ugly Ronaldo bust" that horrified the internet with another disturbing statue.

His team spent three months building a convincingly horrid likeness of Beckham - which the athlete compared to Stretch Armstrong - complete with a watermelon-sized jaw and a huge derriere.
Exactly the opposite of what Beckham requested.
The gag worked incredibly well for two reasons: First, Beckham fell for the prank hook, line, and sinker. Second, the humble star was too polite to tell off any of the actors hired to fool him.
Corden, 40, was giggling his head off backstage as Beckham glared at the funhouse mirror version of himself.
"The only thing that's good is the hair," he told the sculptor, but even that was generous.
The entire awkward incident was caught on camera by a team Beckham thought were working for Galaxy's website. But even after he told the crew to stop filming, hidden cameras caught him chewing out the sculptor.
"I really don't see how this can go out," Beckham said. "My parents are coming over from London, my wife is coming..."
Corden had even more fun getting on Beckham's nerves, instructing his actors to get the star player's name wrong and adding embarrassing moments to his "highlight reel."
For the record, here's what the statue actually looked like:
The end result was one of Corden's funniest gags ever, and even Beckham had a laugh at his expense - after he saw the offending statue smashed to pieces.
