Dairy Queen is one of my favorite ice cream and dessert spots. Not only do they have delicious treats, they also give them away a couple of times a year.
At the start of every summer, Dairy Queen hosts Free Cone Day where they give away free soft serve ice cream in exchange for donations to support the Children's Miracle Network.
The restaurant also gives you a free Blizzard treat on your birthday, as long as you're part of their Blizzard Fan Club.
This year, they're adding another irresistible offer into the mix, and you really don't want to miss it.
As part of a new summer promotion, Dairy Queen is giving away free Blizzards and you can get one at any participating location!
Here's how you can get your free treat
Like many other popular restaurants, Dairy Queen has a mobile app, which members can use to pay from their phones, access coupons, and other special perks.
It seems like they need more people to start using the MyDQ app, so they're offering anyone who signs up for an account a free Blizzard.
Simply download the app on your portable device and register to get a digital coupon that can be redeemed for a small complimentary Blizzard at participating locations across the United States, except Texas.
I am the new DQ® App. And I'm here to kick off your summer right... Starting with a free small BLIZZARD treat. Download the app and register to get yours today. pic.twitter.com/NbtvsFWAhN

It might be a good idea to call ahead and ask your local DQ if they will be honoring this deal.
There's no fine print that states the promo is restricted to specific flavors, so this could be your chance to try some of the new limited-edition Blizzards, like S'mores, Summer Berry Cheesecake, Cotton Candy, and Jurassic Chomp with Peanut Butter.
Only one coupon can be used per person, but the more you use the app, the more you'll be able to score some sweet freebies, according to Dairy Queen. For every five visits, you'll earn free DQ food and treat rewards.
I think I now know what my plans are for this afternoon.
