A Texas couple were in for an amazing surprise when they realized they had both planned to pop the question with identical proposals.
After a year of dating, Tori Monaco and Berkley Cade both believed it was time to take their relationship to the next level.
According to Buzzfeed News, the couple had met online and immediately knew their relationship was meant to last.
"We are each other's first same-sex relationship, so we were blown away by our ability to connect with each other immediately and find the happiness we had been looking for," Monaco said.
The senior at the University of Texas at Austin decided there wasn't a reason to wait and enlisted Cade's best friend to help her pick out an engagement ring. She then asked Cade's mother Kristy for advice on how to pop the question to the love of her life.
Little did she know, her partner had been planning the same surprise.
Cade, who is stationed in the Air Force in Texas, had also been consulting her mother on the perfect way to propose.
Kristy had told both the lovebirds their upcoming visit to Cade's family home in Seattle, Washington would be the perfect opportunity to propose. They agreed the grand gesture would take place during a game of Pictionary.
"[Kristy] said she was planning a fun game night already, so I could do it then so Berk wouldn't be suspicious," Monaco said. "I said great, I could incorporate it into charades, and she said how about Pictionary!"
Monaco said her future mother-in-law was the mastermind behind the pair's mutual proposal.
"When in the universe will there ever be two lesbians that want to propose at the same time, the same day, the same place, and the same way? I have to get it right," Kristy said, according to Monaco.
Monaco said while she had a feeling Cade was planning on proposing as well, she hoped to be the first one to ask the life changing decision. She added that Cade was such a selfless person, she wanted to be the one to get down on one knee.
"When she began drawing the picture and had her hands shaking and was taking so long to draw the prompt, I had my heart pounding thinking she must know I am going to propose," she said.
Monaco said when she realized Cade was about to propose, she quickly pulled out her ring.
"There is no way she is proposing too. And when I got down on one knee and proposed and she was struck mute, I figured I would give a speech and she would say yes, but instead she pulls out her own ring. I [was] laughing at the coincidence, crying tears of happiness, and unbelievably shocked that something so perfect was happening to me."
The video of the proposal quickly went viral on Twitter, where Monaco and Cade received a tidal wave of support from the online community.
"We are beyond humbled by our relationship," Monaco said. "Having so many people support us and find inspiration and happiness in our successful, loving relationship is so amazing."
