Hollywood icons Clark Gable and Carole Lombard first met in 1932 while filming No Man of Her Own. If you've seen the movie, you can't deny that they had an unmatched onscreen chemistry, but at the time, they were both with other people and did not pursue a relationship with each other.
It wasn't until after their reunion at the Mayfair Ball in 1936 that they began to date. In 1939, a year after Gable finalized his divorce, the couple eloped and spent their honeymoon in Arizona.
Unfortunately, the super-celebrity couple were only married for three years before Lombard unexpectedly died in a plane crash in 1942. During their short-lived marriage, the couple lived in at least two homes, an estate in Encino Ranch, California and another in Palm Springs.
The latter is a Spanish Colonial-style home that still stands. After Gable moved out, the property was acquired by a few different people until it ended up in the hands of film producer Joel Douglas, the son of actor Kirk Douglas.
Over the years, the 3,301-square foot pink-stucco house has been renovated, but many of the original fixtures, like the wrought iron details, ceiling design and colorful bathroom tiles, remain.
The massive property boasts a family room, living room, a den/office, a kitchen, four bedrooms, and six bathrooms . Period details include decorative wrought-iron work, vaulted beamed ceilings and colorful tile accents.
Let's take a peek inside the gorgeous property...
The iconic house is located in the historic Old Las Palmas neighborhood of Palm Springs, California and is now worth around $2.195 million.
The backyard has a vintage-style pool house and a large lit up swimming pool
The original raised beam ceiling is still a part of the living room

Joel Douglas added a custom-built pool table to a section of the den. The pool table was built especially for Kirk Douglas.
The bedrooms still have original details on the ceilings and doors
They also have their own bathrooms
This one even has a balcony to let some of that fresh California breeze in
The bathrooms also have colorful original Spanish tile designs all over
Although not pictured, the half-acre property also includes a separate guest house, a garage, and a massive lawn.
It's sad to know that Gable and Lombard's relationship ended in tragedy because they would've definitely made some great memories in this beautiful home.
