As celebrity-endorsed diets like keto and paleo continue to be popular among those who are looking to change their eating habits, people like Chris Pratt, are going in a completely different direction.
The actor, who has openly discussed the importance of faith in his life on several occasions, has turned to the Bible to inspire his health regimen.
In a recent Instagram post, Pratt revealed that he is three days into his latest diet plan - the Daniel Fast - "based on the fasting experiences of the Old Testament Prophet."
"Hi, Chris Pratt here. Day Three of the Daniel Fast, check it out," Pratt said in a video uploaded to his Instagram story. "It's 21 days of prayer and fasting."
As the name suggests, the plan is inspired by Daniel, a prophet who limited his diet to vegetables and water so he could cleanse his body and become spiritually closer to God.
According to the Daniel Fast's website, it is "a partial fast where some foods are eaten while others are restricted" for 21 consecutive days.
The website also states that "thousands of people with health and weight issues experience success as they submit all of who they are to the Lord and change from the inside out."
While on the plan, indulgences like meats, alcohol, and sugary treats are prohibited. You're only permitted water and foods that have grown from seeds, like fruits, grains, and vegetables.
In his video, Pratt explained that the fast will end right when he is to start his press tour for the Lego Movie 2, and jokingly added that by then he might start hallucinating.
"It's going to coincide also, coincidentally, with the Lego Movie 2 junket. So, by the time you see me, I'll probably be hallucinating," he said. "Stay tuned."
The Jurassic World actor's decision to start the special diet comes just a few weeks after he opened up about struggling to stay fit during the holidays.
"These last couple of months, I have just not been that motivated to work out. And I've been eating," he said in an Instagram story last month. "And I know it's winter and it's holiday season. This morning I woke up and I've determined that I'm going to get on it. And I don't want to, but I'm going to do it, I'm going to start it today."
Pratt also talked to his followers about motivating each other despite all the negativity on social media.
"Let's motivate each other," he added. "Social media stuff can be so ugly and so nasty and it can make us hurt one another but I'm trying to motivate ya."
As for his new diet, Pratt will probably find it easier because he has already tried intermittent fasting in December.
"So I'm doing this intermittent fasting thing; don't eat till noon, try to get my cardio in in the morning. It's super exciting actor stuff," Pratt said on his Instagram story. "Look it up! Check it out! It's actually kinda cool. Works pretty good and I've lost a little weight so far."
We're looking forward to Pratt's next, hallucination-free update.
