On May 18, 2017, the world lost another incredibly talented artist to suicide.
While most people will remember Chris Cornell as the frontman for Soundgarden and Audioslave, he was also a husband and the father to his three precious kids, Lillian, Toni, and Christopher.
And although he took his own life a little over a year ago, it's clear he has maintained a long-lasting impact on his children's lives, which became apparent when Toni, 13, debuted their father-daughter duet to Prince's song, "Nothing Compares 2 U."
Toni released the cover on YouTube in honor of Father's Day, the second one she's had without her dad.
"I love you and miss you so much. You were the best father anyone could ask for," Toni wrote in the video's caption.
She continued: "Our relationship was so special, and you were always there for me. You gave me courage when I didn't have any. You believed in me when I didn't. I miss your love everyday."
"Recording this song with you was a special and amazing experience I wish I could repeat 100 times over and I know you would too. Happy Father's Day daddy, nothing compares to you," Toni concluded.
Before Cornell passed away, he revealed in a 2015 interview with Rolling Stone Australia that all of his children are musically inclined, and that he'd always support them, regardless to where their passions led them.
"I think my children are definitely musically inclined and they show it, and they're exposed to a lot of it," the musician shared. "And they're their own people, and I think easily they could do something musical or they could do something in acting or film or other types of the arts, and I would fully support it."
"It has to be done for the right reason, and I'd say that to anybody," he continued. "Obviously I want my kids to be happy, and I believe that they can be super successful at whatever they want to do, but don't make the successful part more important than the process of doing it. Especially if it's an artistic endeavor."
This isn't the first time Toni has honored her father's legacy. Last year she appeared on Good Morning America and performed Leonard Cohen's "Hallelujah" alongside pop rock band One Republic.
