Reality TV has a habit of capturing celebrities at their worst, but that's just because real life can be messy.
Take Celebrity Rehab with Dr. Drew. Every season, a new crop of troubled stars arrived on Dr. Drew Pinsky's doorstep looking for help.
Unless they came back for a second season (which was always a bad sign) fans were left to wonder what had happened to these celebrities and their fight against addiction.
While there were some success stories, many of Pinsky's guests at the Pasadena Recovery Center never got clean, even after the cameras stopped rolling.
Daniel Baldwin
The younger brother of Alec Baldwin, Daniel carved his own path in Hollywood before turning to Dr. Drew for help with his cocaine addiction.
Things looked bleak when Baldwin stormed out of the clinic after just four episodes, but the doctor's advice must have sunk in.
Baldwin sobered up and moved to a small town near Syracuse, New York to live near his mother. He now hosts a sports radio show, and even helps young addicts get clean through charity work.
Brigitte Nielsen
The Danish actress and model was a big star in the '80s, but was grappling with a serious cocaine habit when she arrived at the center.
The Rocky IV star was a model patient, and returned to the show with Dr. Drew to mark her second and third year of sobriety.
Since then, she's starred in German reality shows, including their version of Dancing with the Stars.
In even more exciting news, Nielsen has revealed she's expecting her fifth child - at age 54!
Jeff Conaway
He made a name for himself as Kenickie in Grease, but a back injury from filming the "Greased Lightning" scene plagued Conaway for the rest of his life.
He was using a wheelchair by the time he appeared on Celebrity Rehab for a variety of drug addictions.
Conaway bared his soul on the show, revealing he had been abused as a child, but Dr. Drew was forced to kick him out of the center for his disruptive behavior.
He returned for the show's second season, but didn't seem much different.
While Conaway's family says he was finally improving after getting back surgery, he died from a combination of pneumonia and drug use in 2011 at age 60.
Joanie "Chyna" Laurer
Billed as "the Eighth Wonder of the World," Laurer was famous as a pro wrestler and actress before alcohol abuse derailed her career.
Laurer spoke with Dr. Drew about her difficult family life, but always insisted she was not an alcoholic.
The troubled star never managed to kick her drug habit, and found work as an adult film star after leaving the show.
She was found dead by her manager in 2016, at just 46 years old. An autopsy ruled that an overdose of alcohol, anxiety drugs, painkillers, and sleep aids caused her death.
Steven Adler
The drummer for Guns N' Roses was the "problem child" cast member in both seasons two and five.
During his first appearance, seeking treatment for drug and alcohol addictions, Adler was so distressed that Dr. Drew sent him to a psych ward for two weeks.
Adler went on to appear on the spin-off series Sober House before relapsing.
He's made a number of guest appearances with Guns N' Roses in recent years, but canceled a concert tour in 2013 because of his drug use.
Only time will tell if Adler can stay clean for good.
Rodney King
A videotape of King being beaten by L.A.P.D. officers in 1991 sparked city-wide riots and a national debate.
Dr. Drew said that King's alcohol addiction was so severe, he was on the verge of death before arriving at the treatment center.
King took to the rehab program very well, and appeared at the center for his 11-month sobriety ceremony. Sadly, he was found dead in his swimming pool in 2012.
An autopsy called the incident an accidental drowning, but King had alcohol, cocaine and marijuana in his system when he died.
Sean Stewart
The son of musician Rod Stewart, Sean struggled with a variety of drug and alcohol addictions before Dr. Drew helped him get clean.
He went on to star in reality shows like Sons of Hollywood and Stewarts and Hamiltons, and insists he's sober and healthy today.
"I've been a bit of a bad boy," Stewart said in 2015, "but it's part of growing up."
Tom Sizemore
Sizemore had been a patient of Dr. Drew's for a decade before appearing on his reality show.
The actor appeared in some of the biggest films of the '90s, including Saving Private Ryan and Natural Born Killers, but became addicted to methamphetamine and other drugs.
While he was a fiery presence on the show, Sizemore agreed to return for the Sober House spin-off, and seemed to be improving.
But in 2017, Sizemore pleaded no contest to a pair of domestic abuse charges and was sentenced to another behavioral program.
Dennis Rodman
As "the Worm," Rodman was one of the greatest NBA players of all time. But he's also famous for his outrageous behavior, linked to a lifelong alcohol addiction.
His drinking on the set of Celebrity Apprentice was so bad that Rodman's friends and family forced him into rehab.
During Sober House, Rodman had an emotional reunion with his estranged mother. But he never managed to quit drinking.
After a trip to North Korea as a goodwill ambassador in 2014, where even his manager was stunned by his behavior, Rodman was rushed into rehab again.
MacKenzie Phillips
Phillips became a child star after appearing in American Graffiti and One Day at a Time.
But the actress says that she became a drug addict at age 11, partly because of alleged abuse by her father, the Mamas & the Papas singer John Phillips.
Despite her troubled upbringing, Phillips took to rehab very well. Today, she actually works as a drug rehab counselor in West Hollywood.
Joey Kovar
Kovar found fame as one of the stars of The Real World: Hollywood. But his laundry list of drug and alcohol addictions made him seek out Dr. Drew's help.
The reality star hoped to get clean before the birth of his girlfriend's child.
But unlike his costars, Kovar refused to go to Sober House after Celebrity Rehab ended.
He lost his battle with addiction in 2012 at age 29, after an autopsy revealed he died from "opiate intoxication."
Mindy McCready
The country singer had a string of hits in the '90s, including "Guys Do It All The Time" and "Ten Thousand Angels."
But throughout her life, McCready lived through numerous overdoses, broken relationships, drug-related arrests, and domestic violence cases.
Dr. Drew helped the singer work through her alcohol and OxyContin addictions, and she even joined him for a segment on the view in 2010.
But just three years later McCready was found dead on her porch, from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
Janice Dickinson
The self-titled "first supermodel" has had a long and interesting career, as both a fashion model and a reality star.
But Dickinson spoke openly with Dr. Drew about her longstanding battles with addiction and eating disorders.
She was a model patient compared to some of her castmates, and Dr. Drew had commented that she is "doing so well" after rehab.
Dickinson appeared on the U.K.'s version of Celebrity Big Brother after leaving Celebrity Rehab.
Leif Garrett
His role in the classic series Three For The Road made Garrett a teen idol in the '70s, but he began abusing drugs when he was only 14 years old.
Shortly before joining the show, Garrett had been arrested for possession and ordered to enter rehab.
Since leaving the show, the actor and musician has been focusing on his career and staying out of trouble, which is just what Dr. Drew wants to hear.
Jeremy London
London had starring roles in 7th Heaven and Party of Five, along with the slacker comedy Mallrats.
Like several celebrities on the show, London's spouse, Melissa Cunnigham, was in treatment with Dr. Drew at the same time as him.
Since leaving the rehab center, London has survived a totally bizarre kidnapping attempt and started acting again.
He's filmed small roles on shows like MacGyver, and is scheduled to star in a Mallrats sequel.
Eric Roberts
The older brother of Julia Roberts has his own acting career, but it never reached the heights that hers did.
Roberts struggled with cocaine and marijuana addiction since the early '80s, and had been arrested for domestic abuse before joining Celebrity Rehab.
Dr. Drew helped the actor work through his marijuana addiction, and organized a dramatic confrontation with his wife and stepson.
It seems that Roberts has stayed clean since then, and he's filmed a number of small TV roles in recent years.
Amy Fisher
Fisher was dubbed "the Long Island Lolita" after shooting and wounding Mary Jo Buttafuoco. Fisher claimed she was having an affair with Buttafuoco's husband, and the case quickly became a national obsession.
After her stint in prison for the shooting, Fisher worked as a writer and an adult film actress.
Since appearing on Celebrity Rehab for her alcohol and pill addiction, Fisher has kept a low profile - but maybe that's for the best.
Meanwhile, Buttafuoco has finally restored her damaged smile through plastic surgery.
Jeremy Jackson
Jackson landed a lucky break as a child, beating Leonardo DiCaprio for the part of Hobie Buchanon (David Hasselhoff's son) on Baywatch.
In interviews, the former child star said he felt the hit show was "beneath him," and started taking drugs to cope.
But it was Jackson's addiction to steroids that brought him to the Pasadena Recovery Center. Sadly, it's clear Jackson didn't learn much from his time with Dr. Drew.
He was kicked off the U.K.'s Celebrity Big Brother for assaulting a fellow house-guest, then sentenced to jail and rehab for attempting to steal a car at knifepoint in 2016.
Michael Lohan
While Lindsay Lohan has famously struggled with substance abuse and alcoholism, so has her father Michael.
Dr. Drew tried to help Lohan work through his alcohol addiction, but he's made little progress since leaving the show.
He was arrested for domestic abuse against his girlfriend (and later wife) Kate Major, then arrested again later the same year for breaching her protection order.
Lohan's mother, Marilyn, gained custody of his two sons with Major just before the couple separated in 2015.
The troubled father appeared on Family Therapy with Dr. Jenn the next year, and hopefully learned his lesson with her help.
Sean Young
Young was on the verge of stardom in the '80s, when she had roles in hits like Blade Runner and No Way Out.
But she lost a number of acting jobs because of her erratic behavior and history of alcohol abuse. For the record, Young's side of the story sounds a little different.
Her time with Dr. Drew seemed to pay off at first, as Young landed a role on the Young and the Restless and competed on Skating with the Stars.
But she was also arrested after trying to break into an Oscars after-party in 2012.
These days, Young is taking small parts and working in theater, but she returned to Hollywood to help recreate her famous role in the recent Blade Runner sequel.
Priscilla Presley recently opened up about Elvis's own struggle with addiction.
