Once you've raised your children to become kind and respectable adults, one of the greatest joys in life is becoming a grandparent.
You get the pleasure of spoiling the kids with love and affection, while simultaneously being able to give them back once they become too much of a handful.
Although in today's society, most parents are choosing to have their children later in life, there are some people who are becoming grandmas and grandpas before they even reach retirement!
These individuals include a portion of our favorite celebrities who all became grandparents before they turned the big 5-0. Interested to see who made the list? Take a look!
1. Terry Crews
Despite having a starring role on Brooklyn Nine-Nine and being featured in a series of iconic Old Spice commercials, Terry Crews is first and foremost a father.
Along with having five children, Crews became the grandfather at 45 years old when his adopted daughter Naomi Burton-Crews gave birth to her daughter Miley.
He said that not only are his children one of the greatest joys in his life, they have taught him the importance of having a childlike frame of mind.
"I've learned how to be childlike. Childlike is awesome. You have eyes full of wonder. You're creative. There are no rules for you. You can put wings on and fly and act as though you're going to take off," Crews said in an interview with Biography.
2. Charlie Sheen
Despite Charlie Sheen's extensive controversy through the years, he holds his family close to his heart. In 2013, Sheen's oldest daughter Cassandra Estevez gave birth to his first grandchild, a girl named Luna.
Although the then 47-year-old told David Letterman he was nervous about becoming a grandfather, by the time his daughter gave birth, the former Two and a Half Men star couldn't help but share his excitement with the public.
"It's impossibly a most wondrous day. My bucket list is a thimble!" the actor told TMZ.
3. Whoopi Goldberg
While most celebrities on this list gain grandparent status in their 40s, Whoopi Goldberg was only 34-years-old when she became a first-time grandma. Back in 1989, her 16-year-old daughter Alexandrea gave birth to her little bundle of joy.
While some mother may turn their backs on their children who give birth at a young age, Goldberg has praised her daughter's parenting skills.
"My daughter [Alex] is a much better parent than she was raised around," Goldberg said in an interview with People. "I wanted her to be my friend. Now we realize [kids] need that structure!"
However, despite having three grandchildren, Goldberg's family wasn't done expanding. In 2014 The View co-host announced she had become a great-grandmother through her granddaughter Amarah.
"I have a crazy announcement. I am proud to tell you all and introduce you to the newest addition to my family. This is my great-granddaughter and she came into the world on Saturday," she said, showing a picture of the newborn on air.
4. CeeLo Green
CeeLo Green is another star who became a grandparent in his mid-30s. The former The Voice coach was only 35 years old when his stepdaughter Sierra gave birth to her son in 2010.
"It's a real tingly feeling to have someone recognize you so young as their own," Green told CNN in 2011. "I'm 'Papa' to him. He knows I belong to him in that way, so that's sweet."
"From what I hear, he sung a little bit of 'Forget You' in the back seat. It's out of tune, of course, but it's cute," he said.
5. Mama June
Ever since she appeared on the controversial show Here Comes Honey Boo Boo, Mama June has become a staple in today's pop culture.
At only 32-years-old, June's oldest daughter Anna "Chickadee" Shannon gave birth to her daughter Kaitlyn. Chickadee was only 16 years old when she had her first daughter, and had forbidden her mother from visiting her daughter during her first few months of life.
Since then, Chickadee gave birth to another Kylee, while her 18-year-old daughter Lauryn "Pumpkin" Shannon welcomed her first child Ella into the world back in February.
"I think Mama will be an all right grandma," Pumpkin told her fans in a video message. "I mean, she can't really see, but she'll do good."
6. Jim Carrey
While it might be hard imagining Jim Carrey outside of hilarious movie characters, he actually has a busy personal life. This includes his daughter Jane, who gave birth to his grandson Jackson back in 2010.
The award-winning actor was 48 years old when the bundle of joy popped into his life, and he couldn't be more of a doting granddad.
"When it happened, oh my gosh, it was just like an explosion of pure bliss," Carrey told Access Hollywood in 2011. "He is the coolest dude on earth, unless he gets tired and then he's a marauding maniac... He's so clued in and we play soccer together and he's really coordinated, it's amazing."
7. Sarah Palin
When Sarah Palin was running for Vice-President in the 2008 election, it was revealed her oldest daughter Bristol was pregnant at only 17 years old.
Not only was Palin soon to be be a grandmother at 44 years old, but she had just given birth to her youngest son, Trig, as well. It was well reported in the media she didn't originally take the news well, but eventually realized it was a blessing.
"When Bristol and Levi first told us the shocking news that she was pregnant, to be honest, we all at first looked at the situation with some fear and a bit of despair," Palin said.
"Isn't it just like God to turn those circumstances into such an amazing, joyful blessing when you ask Him to help you through?" she added.
8. Pierce Brosnan
In 1998 - only six years after People dubbed Pierce Brosnan as "The Sexiest Man Alive" - the actor revealed he had recently become a grandfather for the first time.
Brosnan was 44 years old when his adopted daughter Charlotte gave birth her child Isabelle Sophie, to his great pleasure.
In an interview with Grand Magazine, Brosnan said he loved his joint role of being both an attractive movie star and a doting granddad.
"If I can get away with it, why not?... To make movies and to be a grandfather and a sex symbol in the same sentence is a joy."
9. Kid Rock
Although we don't hear about Kid Rock a lot these days, one person who he's been spending a lot of time with is his granddaughter Skye.
When Rock was 43 years old, his son Bobby Ritchie Jr. welcomed his daughter Skye into the world.
He's proven to be a doting granddad, and said in an interview with Rolling Stone, that becoming a grandfather at such a young age has been a blessing - which has also let him keep his "redneck street cred."
"I'm enjoying it. Listen, my son graduated college and he has a job. That alone, as a parent, is such a relief. I can't imagine what the f*ck I put my parents through. Now I have a beautiful granddaughter, on top of it? It's pretty crazy," Rock said.
"My friends say, 'How lucky are you, to be able to see your granddaughter do so much stuff? You'll be at her wedding.' So many things you might not see if you have kids later in life, which seems to be the trend now for most responsible adults," he added.
10. Snoop Dogg
While you'd assume Snoop Dogg would live a wild life as an award-winning rapper, he actually has a loving and stable family life.
He married his childhood sweetheart in 1997 and they have four children together. In 2010, his oldest child Corde Broadus (nicknamed Spank) welcomed his son Zion into the world.
Even though Dogg was only 43 years old, he embraced becoming a grandparent with open arms.
"Proud grandad [sic]. My son spank n grandson Zion !! Jah bless," he captioned his Instagram video, where he proudly announced his grandson's birth.

After Taylor's death, all 10 of her grandchildren have made it their mission to keep her legacy alive by continuing the good work of the the Elizabeth Taylor AIDS Foundation.
"Her heart was huge," Laela told People. "She had such a huge impact with her activism and she was so full of life and love. She made a big impact on us."
