Eerie Connection Between Casey Anthony's Boyfriends Now Extends To Father

CBS/CBS Miami

If you ask me, Casey Anthony should not be a free woman. Anthony was charged with the murder of her two-year-old daughter, Caylee, who went missing in 2008. Instead of reporting the disappearance right away, Anthony waited a full month to inform police that her daughter was gone.

During that one-month period, Anthony was seen partying with friends, and by the time police were called, her own family was turning on her. Anthony's mom, Cindy claimed the trunk of her daughter's car smelled "like a dead body."

The trial was messy, with Anthony's defense team trying to prove that Caylee had accidentally drowned in the family pool on June 16th.

"I don't believe (the drowning). That's a bunch of bull to me," Casey's father, George, explained. "That's too easy of a story to bring up "˜cause if that would've happened, I think my daughter would've at least had the common decency or common sense inside to call 911 and say something."

After almost 11 hours of deliberation, they found Casey not guilty of first-degree murder, aggravated child abuse, and aggravated manslaughter of a child.

George Anthony, a former police detective, always remained adamant that his granddaughter was killed my her own mother. He said he would never have a relationship with her ever again.

On November 24th, another tragedy struck the Anthony family. According to the Florida Highway Patrol, George Anthony was driving down the I-4 in Daytona Beach, when his 1999 Toyota 4-Runner began to drive off the shoulder. Anthony tried to swerve back onto the highway, but he lost control of the vehicle and it overturned several times.

Anthony, 67, suffered what is being called "incapacitating injuries," which is described as an injury that requires hospitalization, such as broken bones or severed limbs. The FHP are suggesting Anthony suffered a medical issue that caused the accident, as he couldn't remember what happened prior to the accident.

The good news, though, is that he was conscious. Considering he crossed three lanes of traffic and hit the median, things could have ended much worse.

The Eerie Coincidence

The biggest question, after who killed Caylee, was who exactly the little girl's father was. There were a few potential options, they all shared one extremely eerie coincidence: they each died in a car accident before it could ever be proven if they were Caylee's father.

Even though George Anthony didn't die in his accident, it's hard not to connect it to four of Caylee's potential fathers.

There was Jesus Ortiz, who went to high school with Anthony, and was publicly named the father of Caylee in 2008. His family never believed it, though. It would never be proven, though, as just under a year before Ortiz was publicly named the father, he died in a car accident.

Then there was a man only identified as "Josh," who Anthony apparently met while working at Universal Studios. It later became public knowledge that "Josh" died in a car accident, also in 2007. It turns out Anthony lied about working at Universal Studios, anyway.

Eric Baker was then named Caylee's father, this according to Cindy Anthony. She claimed that her daughter had confided this information in her, but Baker's family wasn't informed. The man was either from North Carolina or Kentucky (the elder Anthony didn't know which,) and while there was no connection found between any man named Eric Baker and Casey Anthony, they did find an eric Baker from Kentucky who also died in a car accident in 2007.

The most plausible candidate for Caylee's father was Michael Duggan, and his mom was adamant about this. She said she's "100%" sure Caylee was her granddaughter, but once again there was no way to prove this. Michael died in a car accident in 2007...yes, again.

We're glad that George Anthony was at least okay enough to speak with first responders after the accident, but it's eerie to read about all the people in Casey Anthony's life who have been in serious car wrecks.
