If I told you there was a type of sand that doesn't get wet, would you believe me?
Well, it's true!
It's called Magic Sand and it sure does live up to it's name. You can fully submerge this sand in water, and when taken out the grains are still completely dry! The sand is simple to make and also a great sensory activity for the kids!
Materials Needed
- Colorful sand
- Aluminum foil
- Scotchgard
- Bowl
- Water
- Squeeze bottle
Directions
Pour the colorful sand on a foil tray and spread it evenly into a thin layer.
Spray the surface with scotchgard in a well-ventilated area and let it dry for a few minutes.
Move the sand around to expose the parts that have not been sprayed and repeat the spraying process 3-5 times.
Once completely dry, pour the sand into a squeeze bottle.
Take a bowl and fill it with water. Test out your magic sand by pouring a little amount into the bowl and scooping it out with a spoon. If the sand is dry, then you have succeeded!
