Earlier this year, singer Britney Spears and her family received some terrible news. The pop star's eight-year-old nice, Maddie, was involved in a serious ATV accident and sustained life-threatening injuries.
Maddie was riding in an off-road vehicle in Kentwood, Los Angeles when it flipped over, sending her into a nearby pond, where she remained unconscious for several minutes.
The young girl was airlifted to a nearby hospital where she was admitted to the intensive care unit (ICU). She was hospitalized for five days before she was cleared to go home with her mother, Spears's sister, Jamie-Lynn, and stepfather, Jamie Watson, by her side.
Jamie-Lynn did not address the incident for a while, but when she was ready, she took to social media to express how she felt.
A few months ago, she said she was living a "mother's worst nightmare," when the accident occurred. She added, "I'll never stop thanking each of you for your prayers, because we recognize the miracle it created. We are beyond blessed, and we will NEVER forget y'all, and God's unbelievable mercy."
Jamie-Lynn, Britney, and the rest of the family ensured Maddie returned back to her regularly scheduled activities like attending school, celebrating holidays like Valentine's Day, and hanging out at Disney World with her cousins.
Ten months after "almost losing" her daughter, Jamie-Lynn is finally comfortable with sharing more details about the accident, and thanks the "angels" who saved Maddie.
In celebrating the holidays, Jamie-Lynn is expressing gratitude for various milestones she's experienced. This week, she is thankful for being able to celebrate Maddie's 9th birthday after nearly losing her earlier this year.
"This milestone became a true miracle, and we are forever grateful for that," Spears wrote on Instagram as part of her 12 Days of Jamie Lynn Spears series.
The former child star credited the paramedics who first got to the scene as the "angels" who gave Maddie a second chance at life.
"The hardest milestone me and my family have ever faced was almost losing our beautiful Maddie, but thanks to God and the two angels in this picture we were able to celebrate Maddie turning 9 years old all together," she added.
Thankfully, Maddie has since made a full recovery from the accident, and will have a lot to celebrate for this holiday season.
Maddie, who was born in 2009, is Jamie-Lynn's first child. The former Nickelodeon star was just 16 when she became pregnant, and the frenzy surrounding the scandal proved too much so her show, Zoey 101, was cancelled.
Despite it all, Jamie-Lynn has no no regrets. While looking back at the 12 major milestones in her life, she counted her time on Zoey 101, her wedding day, and the moment she became a mother.
"Some milestones we never see coming, but I'm so blessed that It did. Maddie is the biggest blessing in my life so far #12DaysofJLS," Jamie-Lynn wrote.
We're so glad Maddie is doing well!
