On a clear night, all you want to do is grab a lawn chair and go star-gazing. Wouldn't it be wonderful to be able to see celestial wonders all night long? That's a question Pulsar Moonlight asked right before inventing a line of night lights that look just like the moon and planets of the solar system.
Italian astrophysicist Maria Elena came up with the idea to make the globe lamps using recycled materials and non-toxic paint. She hand-paints each globe to resemble real-life versions of the moon or planets such as Jupiter, Mars, and Neptune. To achieve realistic craters, shadows, and colors on each planet, Maria Elena uses detailed photographs to model her creations.
On their website, Pulsar Moonlight claims to have "the first moon lamp." The lamps aren't just there to tempt you though - you can actually buy them on Etsy!
Depending on which lamp you choose, prices range from €65-€100 ($70-$108 USD). That's not a lot when you think of how much work went into these handmade lamps!
Moon lamps aren't just for your night table. They're also perfect work-station lights, because they'll cast a calming glow without being too hard on the eyes.
Or they go nicely as a ceiling light...
If you thought the moon lamps were cool, you'll love the planets. Each one is painted to look like the real thing. Simply plug it in, and you'll see even more details.
Neptune is the only blue planet Maria Elena has re-created so far, but it's stunning.
Since each Mars globe is painted by hand, Elena encourages customers to personalize their order by requesting extra details.
Jupiter has been a popular choice for children's rooms. It's so incredible that we can see why!
