It's been nearly 37 years since Natalie Wood passed away, but her death still remains a mystery.
On November 29, 1981 Wood went on a weekend boat trip with her husband Robert Wagner and their close friend Christopher Walken.
But during the night, the Splendor in the Grass star mysteriously disappeared, only for her lifeless body to be discovered a mile from the yacht.
It was declared Wood died by "drowning and other undetermined factors," which led the public to speculate on what really happened during her final hours alive.
However, the boat's captain Dennis Davern appeared on a September 14 episode of the Dr. Phil show, where he alleges Wagner murdered the famed actress.
When Phil McGraw asked Davern if he believed Wagner was responsible for Wood's death, he responded with, "Yes, I really do."
He claimed the couple had been "fighting" prior to her disappearance, adding that "You could hear things being thrown around the state room."
This isn't the first time Davern has claimed Wagner was a murderer.
In an interview with 48 hours, the boat captain said he suspects the Hart to Hart actor killed Wood out of jealousy - believing she was having an affair with their mutual friend.
"I opened a bottle of wine and "“ Natalie and Christopher had continued to giggle," he said.
"And then Robert Wagner "“ picked up the bottle of wine and smashed it... Natalie, she said, 'I cannot take this,' and she went into her room."
Wood's sister also insists Wagner played a hand in her death, and told McGraw that's why he isn't cooperating with the police.
"The only reason can be that he has something to hide. Otherwise why wouldn't you talk to the police?" she asked.
A clip of Lana confronting Wagner was seen on the show, questioning him why he won't speak to the detectives. Wagner is seen defensive, telling her "You've accused me of murdering her, of taking all of these positions. It's incredible. I can't believe you would do something like that."
In 2011, the investigation into Wood's death was reopened, with Wagner being named a Person of Interest.
"As we've investigated the case over the last six years, I think he's more of a person of interest now,"Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department Lieutenant John Corina said in an interview with 48 Hours earlier this year. "I mean, we now know that he was the last person to be with Natalie before she disappeared."
"I haven't seen him tell the details that match all the other witnesses in this case," Corina continued. "I think he's constantly changed his story a little bit. And his version of events just don't add up."
According to Detective Ralph Hernandez, Wood's body was found covered in bruises, which made it appear she was "a victim of an assault."
In a 2016 interview with PEOPLE, Wagner said he developed a close relationship with his stepdaughter Natasha Gregson Wagner, following the death of her mother.
"We were all so shattered by the loss, and we were hanging on to each other," Wagner said. "My bond with Natasha is very, very intense. We've hung onto each other through the years and she means the world to me."
