A teenager is being praised for helping a blind and deaf passenger who was traveling alone on a flight.
Lynette Scribner was boarding a plane on Boston's Logan International Airport when she noticed a woman signing words into her brother's hand.
She said as they parted ways, the man, who was later identified as Tim Cook, was assigned the middle seat in her row. The man who had the aisle seat graciously switched with Cook and tried to help him with a few simple tasks.
"The man, who had given up his seat, did his best to assist with things like opening coffee creamer and pouring it in his coffee," Scribner continued.
However, the flight attendants on the Alaska Airlines plane were unable to communicate with Cook, so they sought out someone who could. They asked the passengers if anyone knew American Sign Language (ASL), and luckily one commuter knew.
She came in the form of Clara Daly, 15, who decided to learn ASL as she said it was the easiest foreign language to grasp due to her dyslexia.
According to Daly, Cook just wanted someone to talk to on the trip back to Portland, Ore.
"I went to [Cook] a total of three times, once to get him water, another to tell him the time, and the last hour of the flight to just talk to him," she said in an interview with FOX59.
"We talked about our family in Massachusetts and he asked me about my plans for my future," Daly said.
"Clara was amazing," an Alaska flight attendant added. "You could tell Tim was very excited to have someone he could speak to and she was such an angel."
As it turned out, Daly and her mother Jane were originally meant to catch a separate flight before it got canceled. According to Daly, their delay was meant to be.
"After the flight, Clara told me she thought it was meant to be that our original flight was canceled and we were placed on this flight, so she could be there to help Tim," Jane said.
In the end, Daly hopes she was able to lead by example and inspire others to do good deeds.
"I hope this helps other people realize that in the world we are living in, it is everyone's duty to help each other out, no matter what," Daly said.
