I thought there was nothing more divisive than pineapple on a pizza. In the interest of journalistic integrity I will admit that I love the fruit on a pizza, but I know millions of other people don't. Heck, Iceland's president once joked that if he could do anything without getting in trouble it would be banning pineapple on pizza.

So I know I don't fit in with pizza traditionalists, but I think there's something most of us should be able to agree on: bananas don't belong on pizza.

Bananas are delicious. A unique taste easy to eat, lots of vitamins and nutrients. Perfect. Enjoy them on their own or with ice cream. Banana and peanut butter sandwiches are delicious! Eat them however you want but don't put them on pizza. Seriously, what's wrong with people.

When I first heard about this I thought maybe it was another crazy internet challenge. I mean kids put Tide Pods in their mouths so I wouldn't put it past them to try banana on a pizza.

It's not a challenge though, it's a thing. A really common thing.

It's a little harder to find in the US, but in Sweden banana on pizza is a popular topping. Pineapple on pizza is called a Hawaiian pizza (although it was invented by a Canadian) and when banana is on a pizza it's called a Pizza Africana.

If you're a daredevil here is how you make it:

• Start with a pizza dough
• Apply pizza sauce (so far so good)
• Top with your choice of cheese
• Slice up 1 banana and apply
• slice up half a red onion and put 'er on
• Sprinkle a tablespoon of CURRY POWDER over your monstrosity
• OPTIONAL: add 1/2 cup of pineapple

I've had an old-timey recipe before that was bananas, ham and I think hollandaise. I'm not sure exactly because I tried to block it from my memory. I remember enough to tell you that warm bananas are probably the most disgusting texture in the entire food kingdom.

There are plenty of wild pizza combinations out there, but Sweden seems like they should know better.
