New Study Reveals The Average Mom's Daily Schedule, And It's Brutal

El Tribuno

Are you a mom? Do you feel tired all the time? If you said "yes" to both questions, we're not surprised.

It's no secret that raising children is one of the toughest jobs anyone can have, and moms are still picking up most of the slack when it comes to parenting.

If you need proof, a new survey has nailed down exactly how much time the average mom spends taking care of her family each day.

And the numbers will surprise you - unless you're a mom.

14-Hour Days

Welch's fruit juice surveyed 2,000 American mothers with children aged between 5 and 12 years old.

The study compared their weekly schedule and found the average mom's workday is 14 hours long.

That adds up to 98 hours a week, or as much as two and a half full-time jobs.

The average mom in their survey wakes up at 6:23 a.m. and doesn't turn in until 8:31 p.m. And there's not much "me time" in between.

After looking after their kids and their house, the average mother gets just an hour and seven minutes to themselves.

With numbers like that, it's no surprise four in 10 moms describe their life as a never-ending series of tasks.

Moms also shared the distractions, treats, and skills they use to get through another busy day.

Coffee, Wine, and Netflix

This isn't the first study to highlight how overworked and underappreciated moms are.

Another survey from 2013 found the average mom's daily to-do list is 26 items long.

That includes preparing healthy meals and drinks for their family, something many women in the Welch's survey admit to struggling with.

The juice brand polled moms on what they use to make it through the day, and some of the answers will probably be familiar to you.

Moms say they depend on naps and Netflix to recharge during the day, with either coffee or wine to adjust their mood.

Mothers also listed their "angry voice" as a must-have skill, and say they use plenty of distractions like iPads and toys to entertain their kids.

Parenting is a Mother

If you're a mom and you feel tired all the time, now you know why - as if you needed a survey to tell you.

Of course, it's not just busy schedules, motherhood also changes your body in a lot of stressful ways.

It's definitely not a cushy job, but at least it's rewarding (sometimes).

How does your schedule compare to the average mom's?
