I grew up watching Arnold Schwarzenegger's action movies my entire childhood, so I've followed his career very closely.
It's definitely not what you expect from an Austrian bodybuilder who could barely speak English when he moved to America.
After becoming a movie star and successful businessman, Schwarzenegger set his sights on politics and became the governor of California.
But the day after he left office, a massive scandal broke that threatened to overshadow his entire career, and ended his 25-year marriage.
The Affair
As you may remember, Schwarzenegger married into a political dynasty.
His wife, journalist and TV producer Maria Shriver, is President John F. Kennedy's niece.
But during his marriage to Shriver, Schwarzenegger was living a double life.
The actor and his longtime housekeeper, Mildred "Patty" Baena, were having an affair.
The relationship went unnoticed by Shriver for years, until questions were raised about Baena's teenage son, Joseph.
The Love Child
Joseph was born just a week after Arnold's youngest child with Shriver, Christopher.
For the first decade of his life, it seems that no one suspected Schwarzenegger was Joseph's father.
But when he became a teenager, the resemblance was impossible to deny.
Baena told Hello magazine that "people in the house started whispering about how much they looked like each other."
Shriver finally confronted the housekeeper in 2010, and Baena couldn't deny it any longer.
"Maria asked me directly if Joseph was Arnold's son, and I just broke down. I dropped to my knees and I was crying, saying that yes he was and I was so sorry."
But incredibly, Shriver and Baena didn't confront Schwarzenegger about the affair right away.
The Secret
It's unclear when Schwarzenegger knew about his connection to Joseph, and how much he did about it.
The movie star claimed that when the boy "started looking like me, that's when I kind of got it. I put things together."
He also claims that he gave money to support Baena and her son in secret.
But Baena insists she never spoke directly to Schwarzenegger about their child, or told the star he was Joseph's father.
Shriver didn't confront her husband right away either.
She actually refused Baena's offer to quit on the spot, and allowed her to keep working and retire after the holidays, as she had originally planned.
The Truth
Shriver finally confronted her husband about his affair and love child the day after he left the governor's office in 2011.
At a heated marriage counseling session the truth was finally revealed, and the couple went their separate ways as the story went public soon after.
"There are no excuses and I take full responsibility for the hurt I have caused," Schwarzenegger said in a statement.
"I have apologized to Maria, my children and my family. I am truly sorry."
But years later, Schwarzenegger's relationship with Joseph is surprisingly warm.
"I'm proud of you and I love you!"
While Shriver and Schwarzenegger are technically not divorced, they have remained separated ever since news about Joseph broke.
The star's secret child is now 20, and studying business at university.
Schwarzenegger even shares friendly photos of his son on Instagram, and their resemblance is now unquestionable.
"I can beat myself up as much as I want "” it's not gonna change the situation," the star said about the unusual relationship.
"So the key thing is, how do you move forward? How do you have a great relationship with your kids?"
Baena doesn't hold any grudges against Joseph's father either, saying he's "a good man and I know he's suffering too. He loves Maria. I hope with time they work things out."
Bad Dads
Of course, Schwarzenegger isn't the first celebrity parent caught having a child out of wedlock.
British movie star Hugh Grant has famously flip-flopped between a pair of women who were once pregnant at the same time, just like Schwarzenegger did.
Comedian Eddie Murphy also refused to acknowledge he had fathered a child with former Spice Girl Mel B.
But when a paternity test came back positive, Murphy changed his tune.
It's good that these two are so close, in spite of everything that happened!
