Ariel Winter has had a rough few years. The Modern Family star has been on TV since she was a young kid, but after some time it came out that her family life was less than ideal. Winter was removed from her mother's home in 2012 after allegations of abuse, including her mother hitting, slapping, name-calling and hurling personal insults at the TV star.
Eventually, Winter petitioned the court to have her mother's legal guardianship taken away, and she won her court case to be emancipated.
"I am now officially emancipated!!!" Winter wrote. "I'm really lucky I have an amazing support system and lovely people in my life who have given me the support and guidance to have been given this wonderful opportunity."
Since then, Winter seems to have been living her best life. She is always celebrating her body, and even gives co-star Sofia Vergara credit for helping the young star learn how to love her curves. Recently, Winter posted a picture of herself and her boyfriend on Instagram celebrating the New Year, and most people had great things to say.
One person, however, accused Winter of losing weight due to drug use.
"Cute. 30 pounds. Adderall does that," the commenter wrote.
"Not hating. You're actually gorgeous," the person continued. "But pills and nose candy go hand in hand with Hollywood. Enjoy yourself, but don't get ruined by it."
Instead of getting extremely defensive about the comments, Winter chose to use humor and sarcasm to respond.
"Yes!! My psychiatrist switched me from my previous antidepressant that didn't work and made me gain weight, to coke/meth!!" Winter she wrote. "Definitely not a new one that worked and then regulated my metabolism. Coke/meth was a controversial decision but she stands by it."
The commenter also told Winter she's "living the Hollywood dream" because "she drinks, smokes and experiments. You people forget that is what people like her do."
"Thanks for the compliment...?" she wrote. "I'm sure you know EXACTLY what goes on or is hand in hand with EVERYONE in Hollywood seeing as everyone knows everything about people they DON'T know. And apparently everyone does the same thing now???"
"I couldn't have lost weight for any other reason just because of the industry I'm in? ... I don't need to explain myself to anyone. No one does," she continued. "However, I want to cut this s--- out of my thread right now. I think it definitely counts as hating on someone when you completely ignore the truth coming from the actual person, to just follow your own fantasy narrative."
Winter is right. It's ridiculous for someone to make claim like that without knowing the person at all, and even more ridiculous for them to be persistent even after she responds. It just goes to show you that some people truly believe they're always right.
